For all of us vultures hoping for a 49ers collapse so we can get a high draft pick in 08...

Never want to see injuries, never wish them on any one or any team, but still, an FYI if you're following along at home.

I don't really wish injuries upon any team but this shouldn't hurt the Niners too much. Gore will be ready to go by the season opener. With a weak NFC and the Niners ugrading during the offseason, I would be surprised if San Fransisco loses more than 8-9 games this season. However, if Gore suffers a major injury this season, their team is in big, big trouble.

I don't believe in wishing injuries on anyone, but I'm really glad to see that an important player on a team whose #1 pick we have is going to miss some time. I know that's probably bordering on ugly, but I didn't pre-wish it so I don't feel so bad. Hope his timing and that of the offense is thrown off for an inexplicable 10 months.

it's a hand, a couple pounds of cast and he can still use his legs

Maybe the Late Bill Walsh curse has overshadowed the stadium with bad luck

Eh. Out for a week. He might have a little fumbilitis during this season, given that holding on to the ball means stressing the hand every carry. We'll see.

damn, that's a real shame................:singing:

We have their #1 pick - I wish every (non life changing) injury I can upon them. However this isn't the big one we're waiting for.

A hand injury for a RB, if it keeps him out of the lineup, probably doesn't reduce his total lifetime playing opportunity or production, given the battering these guys take all over their bodies.

I don't wish injury on any player(Agua troll boy does) But, if it happens without my wishing and it benefits the Patriots, then I don't feel bad about it.

But, this injury does not sound as if it will effect the regular season.

ok, who has the voo doo doll?

at least his knee didn't explode again......................................

He'll be healed by the starts of the season.

I wonder if he is an amidextrous ball carrier and uses both hands or if he's like Dillon and has a favorite hand he carries in and is the broken hand this favorite hand?

Gore will be alright by the season opener, it's not like he was on the Madden cover or something

Did anyone hear which hand it is? If it is his right hand (or his left hand if he is a lefty) the injury could decrease his ability to hang on to the ball in traffic. A couple extra fumbles over the course of a season could boost our draft pick a few spots!

I want to root for them (as a fan of the game), but my mind is telling me that I want them to lose. The ambivalence is killing me.

We'll really get a good idea how far Alex Smith has progressed in his passing game (at least in the preseason before Gore returns). I guess Vernon Davis just got even more popular over there.

I may be the contrarian here but I'm not so sure that I'd want 'that' high a draft pick when you think of the hassles signing them and the guaranteed money involved. A pick in the #10-15 range would suit me fine but maybe I'm being greedy.
Just my $0.02,

If the 49ers finished so that the Pats got the 16th over-all pick, I'd be ecstatic. That's a pick that will get signed for 6 years and have a very big impact for the Pats.

I had the same question, and for the same reason. Found the info, it was his right hand. The source didn't specifically mention he is left-handed, so I am assuming that's his dominant hand. It might be a tad easier to pry the ball loose from him this season.
