49ers showing interest in Kurt Warner? Translation: Matt Cassel still an option

I know Mike Singletary has stated he wasn't looking to bring in any new QBs, but it sounds as if that was a smokescreen.

Should be, Warner is wanting about the same amount per year as Cassel will be getting.

Not to rain on any parades, but...

Talking to Warner drives up the price on him for a division rival, the Cards, whom he's likely to sign with in the end. Also, it's plausible that the 49ers would prefer Warner since he costs no high-end draft picks and they're trying to build something under Singletary. (That said, I realize trading for Cassel would go a long way toward "building something.")
