2027 Watch List

Zabien Brown, CB, Alabama
6-0, 194

I may have mentioned him already but I've just been taking another look. He's a true junior this year and while his coverage grades aren't exceptional so far (69.9 last season), he's a very strong run defending CB with an 85.0 grade last year. I always look for run defence grade with CBs because I figure they're more likely to start early in the NFL.

One thing I do like is that, unlike many CBs who excel at one scheme or the other, he's well balanced between man and zone. 70.3 man coverage grade, 67.6 zone coverage grade.

What struck me, if you watch the INT below, is that he has pretty long arms. another good sign.

He had two INTs on the year and both came at crucial times. The one above to prevent Georgia tying the game in the final minute, and a 99 yd Int return in the final seconds of the half against Tennessee that changed an almost tied game at the half to a 16 point Alabama lead.

Probably right now:

Leonard Moore
Ellis Robinson IV
Zabien Brown
Kelley Jones
Ashton Hampton

No mention of that other Georgia CB.

Are you predicting first rounders or how they're graded now?

OJ Frederique and Brice Pollock are probably in contention too.

I almost put a blank line after Moore and Robinson.

If you include Demello Jones and they all declare, that makes 8 (include Pollack and Frederique).

Top 8 CBs in recent drafts:

2026: Mansoor Delane (6), Chris Johnson (27), Colton Hood (37), Aveion Terrell (48), D'Angelo Ponds (50), Brandon Cisse (52), Davison Igbinosun (62), Tacario Davis (72)

2025: [Travis Hunter* (2)], Jahdae Barron (20), Maxwell Hairston (30), Will Johnson (47), Benjamin Morrison (53), Trey Amos (61), Darien Porter (68), Azareye'h Thomas (73), Shavon Revel (76)

2024: Quinyon Mitchell (22), Terrion Arnold (24), Nate Wiggins (30), Kool-Aid McKinstry (41), Kamari Lassiter (42), Max Melton (43), Mike Sainristil (50)Nate Wiggins, Ennis Rakestraw (61)

2023: Devon Witherspoon (5), Emmanuel Forbes (16), Christian Gonzalez (17), Deonte Banks (24), Joey Porter (33), Julius Brents (44), Cam Smith (51), Tyrique Stephenson (56)

Travis Hunter was an outlier as a dual-purpose player, but otherwise CB's seem to be slipping a bit. If recent history holds, very good #2 CBs should be available Day 2.

His name alone is worth a late round flier.
I know. He was very highly rated on NFLmockdraftdatabase for a while although he's at 141 now. almost zero tape on him as he's hardly played for Oregon. former 5 star recruit I believe.

Great name for his job.
