Summer tight end rankings for the 2027 NFL Draft

The 2027 NFL Draft could be a fun one for tight ends after a year we saw the position increase in value.

The three best contested catch receivers last season are in the coming draft.

1. KJ Duff, Rutgers- 22 contested catches
2. Duce Robinson, Florida State - 18
3. Ian Strong, UCLA (formerly Rutgers) - 17

All three will be interesting evals this coming season.

It's quite interesting going through PFF grades for last year, you usually find something interesting. Take Karon Prunty. He was one of the highest graded zone coverage cornerbacks last year. He graded higher than D'Angelo Ponds and Julian Neal in both man and zone coverages. He graded higher than Chris Johnson in man coverage and higher than Mansoor Delane in zone coverage. Prunty is my favourite day 3 pick.

The other thing I noticed is that Prunty's grades and Chris Peal's are almost identical.

Man Coverage

Karon Prunty - 75.1
Chris Peal - 73.9

Zone Coverage

Karon Prunty - 86.0
Chris Peal - 87.8

It would be nice if Prunty ends up being the real deal.

Ezra Christensen, DT, Colorado (formerly New Mexico State)
6-2, 280 (as listed. Looks shorter)

Christensen will be an interesting eval. That size isn't great for a DT and New Mexico State is hardly a tour de force of college football but his production was quite something last year.

1. He finished 3rd in defensive stops behind Bear Alexander (Oregon) and Will Echoles (Ole Miss).

2. He finished first in QB pressures with 40. Echoles was next on 33.

3. However, as we saw with Landon Robinson, undersized DTs struggle in terms of draft position.

4. But then his HIGHlights are high.

Jide Abasiri, DL, USC
6-5, 295lbs

Built like the perfect Bill Belichick 5-tech, Abasiri is only a true junior so not worth getting too attached but watch him on this play. He's no 97.

More Abisiri. Those might be 34-35" arms. As I said above - perfect BB 5-tech.
