2027 Draft: Tight End

Ethan Davis, TE, Tennessee
6-5, 245

Cory Kinnan just picked him for us in his mock draft.

I need to learn more about him, but on very limited clips, not uninteresting. Another to add to your watch list next year.

Some thoughts, looking at the current Consensus Big Board pre-season TE ratings:

16. Jamari Johnson, Oregon
38. Trey'Dez Green, LSU
63. Andrew Rappleyea, Penn St.
84. Peter Clarke, Temple
98. Terrance Carter, Texas Tech
105. DJ Vonnahme, Iowa
109. Benjamin Brahmer, Penn St.
114. Chris Corbo, Georgia
140. Theo Melin Ohrstom, SMU
192. Brett Norfleet, Missouri
228. Alex Honig, Northwestern
303. Lawson Luckie, Georgia

My Thoughts:

One of the only offensive positions I would consider before day 3, if the value is there. TEs are Queens on the offensive chessboard, and the league is finally figuring it out. TEs were prized in the 2026 draft, and I expect that to continue in 2027, with a copycat league using more 12 and 13 personnel.

Jamari Johnson is the prize. I like him much better than Kenyon Sadiq. Trey'Dez Green could be a Jimmy Graham kind of weapon, Kyle Pitts at the least. Andrew Rappleyea seems to be emerging as the clear #3 prospect for now - Sam Teets has him at #13 overall. Peter Clarke is the most intriguing Y TE; he will be a difficult eval coming out if Temple, and testing will get key.

Beyond them, there are a bunch of solid guys, with a variety of skill sets. Benjamin Brahmer, DJ Vonhamme, Chris Corbo and Terrance Carter all intriguing. Bit mot nearly as deep a group as 2026.

Top 10 run blocking TEs last season. I'm only including those who are currently top 250 or so on the consensus big board.

1. Peter Clarke, Temple - 81.4 (for context, Jackson Hawes was 74.7 in his final year).
2. Jeremiah Hasley, Duke - 74.9
3. Luke Reynolds, Virginia Tech (frmly Penn State) - 68.1
4. Terrance Carter, Texas Tech - 67.8
5. Walker Lyons, BYU, (frmly USC) - 65
6. Lawson Luckie, Georgia - 64.6
7. Tey'Dez Greene, LSU - 59.7
8. Brody Foley, Louisville (frmly Tulsa) - 59.3
9. Jamari Johnson, Oregon - 55.6
10. Andrew Rappleyea, Penn State - 55.5
11. Theo Merlin Ohrstrom, SMU (frmly TAMU) - 50.5

Assuming we're looking for a future TE2 post Hunter Henry (Raridon as TE 1?), Peter Clarke would be awesome. I need to research Hasley, but outside of that, lots to prove as inline blockers for this class. I do wonder if Tanner Arkin might be that guy and already on the roster.

Jeremiah Hasley, TE, Duke
6-3, 250

His run blocking grade speaks for itself - see above.

As for as a receiver, in next years class, only Terrance Carter had more catches and only Carter, Jamari Johnson, Brody Foley (Louisville in '26) and Peter Clarke had more yards.

Hasley finished 40-454-11.4 average-6 TDs. Not dissimilar to Raridon although he had a better average.

My concern is the length for an inline blocker. I'd rather 6-5 than 6-3. Still, a name worth knowing that isn't getting much buzz on X as of yet.
