Strong words for a NESN employee. I'm going to miss Caron
Right ? He will be out. They are all about controlling the narrative. Can’t control your own #1 guy? Bad look. I’m sure TC gives no Effs.

Lol but he is wrong as most fans are. Thats a ridiculous deal and **** Bergman for taking it. He's 32, not getting younger and missed a lot of games last year. Good riddance. Devers needed to go so good riddance to him also.

Nobody in FA was worth the cash that was thrown at them. I would like to see if you can get Bichette at a lower price to plug into second base and then the team is close to set. This is a really, really good team as it stands right now and people just can't see that.

Seriously, '**** Bregman'??? In what universe is it wrong for a FA player in any sport to maximize his earnings?
Why the hell should a Sox fan give a rat's ass what this ownership spends?

Because he is a Boras guy and 99.9 percent of the time Boras clients never end up in the best situation for them baseball-wise. It's always about the top dollar so Borass can get a bigger chunk of the pie. I say that about most Borass clients btw.

As far as how much ownership spends, they aren't the Dodgers and they aren't desperate to win a title. They WANT to win a title, are building a team from the inside out and paying guys they have on the roster. The Yankees haven't really spent **** either. It's the wannabes, the Blue Jays, Orioles etc that are clawing at a title.

Bregman at 175 is very bad business. They will pay Mayer like they did Anthony and then they have Tolle, Early etc that I think are going to be studs in the rotation. Give it some time to germinate, they have a farm system that is elite now. Like I said somewhere else, with good heath and a full year of Anthony, Abreu etc...I think they make the ALCS at a minimum.

Who a player has for an agent has no bearing on the business of free agency from a player perspective being to maximize earnings

It's a personal thing to me. The Sox are more setup for now and the future to win a WS than the Cubs. Thats my opinion of course. I have just seen more and more players over the years value earnings over winning. Happens all the time and Borass clients are the worst. I'd want titles and take a bit less to have a better chance to get one or more. The ultimate when you are 80 years old is ...there goes so and so, he's a x time title winning player. Everyone in sports has tens of millions of dollars. Titles are the separator.

As of this moment the Sox are 9th in payroll at $240m and conveniently below the tax threshold by $9.5m (LA is $334m and $95m over). In 2024 they were 4th in revenue at $574m (LA and NYY were well over $700m) so I assume revenue grew in 2025 (because they won).

From a financial point of view, money is not an issue. They should be spending. Bregman leaving was a financial (age) decision (reports are it was per year $). Hes 32 and was injured last year. I don't have an issue w/ not signing him but not closing the deal on younger players is completely unacceptable. Whats the holdup on Bo Bichette?

The Bichette thing...needs to get done but I hear he wants 300 million which is insane and nobody is paying that. If they don't snag him, who I really, really like..and he solves a big issue at second imo...then there is enough to start *****ing about. He's young, talented and immediately helps the team. I agree there.

Curious that doesn't seem to bother you when ownership does it... again and again... and again and...
It's only a sport to the fans for everyone else it's a business

I have had this arument so many times. Any sport I played, sure it was amateur stuff, I always only cared about winning. If I were a pro, and extra couple million a year or there isn't worth it if I don't have trophies sitting in my office. As I said everyone in pro sports has generational wealth. There actually have been athlete who have done this. Marcus Jones recently comes to mind. You don't he could have gotten paid more in the FA market? Of course he could have. Ben Brown as well. Why do I care how the organization spends its money if I have a good chance at competing for titles? Make me comfortable and lets go compete for championships. At the end of the day if you are playing for money and not titles, I don't want to be playing next to you.

Yea I don't think hes $300m either. He might be Trevor Story 2.0 as he has some injury history. Hes is 27 and if they are going to shell out a 5yr/~$175m deal that's the age and production it's appropriate for.

Until you get your first big contract, then your sitting on your ass, going all Pablo Sandoval.

There's a **** ton of guys in all professional sports that take the money and never win. Rare are the guys who fight the urge to coast. Rarer still are the ones who say the next ring is the best one.

If you were a pro you might well define 'winning' differently, certainly the owners do but apparently that is okay in your book.
You know who has multi-generational wealth? The guy pissin' on our heads that's who. I used to despise Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs, that team was so close so many times and he just would not run in the red even for a Cup. Still at least he flat out said "It's a business." Once he was chairman of the NHL Board of Governors he helped get the hard cap in place to save the sport, keeping owners like Pocklington and Ilitch from buying championships. The NHL has never been healthier and Jacobs was true to his word, once he got cost certainty his team spent to the cap year in and year out.

John Henry & Co talk about 'doing it the right way' but their 'right way' is BS. They're bilking the cash cow so hard ol' Bessie is giving powdered milk and they're still wringing the teat. My real issue is their BS not their budget. At least Jacobs didn't con us

Yeah and Milton Williams is starting everyone in the face. Sure he got paid and paid well but he is an absolute dawg. Never gives up, motor never stops and wants to get better.

There are others who do the same. I do agree they are few and far between.

Wow a free agent! Whodve thought.

Crochet and lefty Suarez not a bad duo…

Wonder where in the order he'll bat?

Now they have a pretty awesome rotation, with Early, Tolle and others waiting in the wings.

All they now are short a full time second baseman. Thats not bad. Team was pretty stacked already and now with Suarez...man.

Also he won't pee down his leg in Yankee stadium either. He is a post season horse.
