I hope as Maye gets more comfortable with AJ Brown, he becomes more comfortable with other spots of the field. Brown might not be the crispiest route runner, compared to... Edleman, but he can make gains everywhere.

It'll be interesting to see how much this offense opens up, McDaniels has a lot of the pieces in place for his full offense: Gilliam, multiple TE's, a varied amount of competent, distinct receivers, a good RB stable, and Maye.

I also really hope Boutte doesn't go. Seemingly has that clutch gene. And will only be more open this season.

It's a catch-22, because it does add context:

Without it: "Drake Maye was inconsistent on Sunday, with the QB off target throughout practice."

Reader: 'How bad was it, really? Did he miss a few throws, or did he miss a lot of throws?'

That's where the 6-of-12 with the INT does provide context. To your point - jumping to conclusions about a player in July is absolutely something that shouldn't be happening. Granted, there will still be a handful of people, I'm sure, who will now be waiting to see if it's a trend or just an off day, but it sort of is what it is there.
