2026 Draft: WR

Duce Robinson, the 6'6", 223lb Florida State WR is now up 5th in draft elegible WRs for receiving yards with 947 in total. He's had 4 consecutive 100 yard receiving games (well one was 98 but I'll give it to him) and is averaging 19 yards per reception.

Transferred from USC for playing time I'd guess.
I think it's right that he, Makai Lemon, Ja'kobi Lane and Zacariah Branch were all in the same USC recruiting class.

I think you all know how much I like KC Concepcion but his drops are something to worry about if he's drafted. He has 6 drops on the year, never more than one per game but it comes to a head because of an egregious endzone drop at the end of the first half in the S Carolina game. If not for the second half comeback, it could have cost TAMU the game. It was the easiest catch to make so the dop was egregious.

In his defense, he did get 158 yards in the game too.

Welp, drops are relative to production. Mr. Edelman always had a rather large number of drops (double digit) throughout his career but he produced tough catches and 1st downs. And was large in the playoffs.

Lazy-ish like for like comps to current Patriots WRs.

Kayshon Boutte - Malachi Fields (limited route trees but very good in the vertical plane and excellent at contested catches).

Stefon Diggs - Makai Lemon (route running par excellence)

Pop Douglas - KC Concepcion (I don't love this comp. Let's just say Concepcion provides what Pop does plus more)

Mack Hollins - Denzel Boston (Run blocking and size.)

There's long-term question marks over all 4 of these WRs whether it's age or contract so I think these are the best replacements on a like for like basis. That doesn't mean Chris Bell or some other WR wouldn't be as good, I'm just talking about similarities in their respective games.

Yeah, but all 4 veterans have played well to v well so a lot would have to change by the draft.

I'm not talking about replacing them next year, this would be more a 'get their future replacement in place for 2027' play.

yes but roster wise, someone of (now) value would have to go or you are moving on from either Williams or Chism. You can live with 6 WRs on the Game Day roster but players only get so many reps after the top 4.

I have never been a good juggler when you throw that 3 ball in the mix.

I agree, it's something I've been saying for the last month. however, the late first options aren't great for me right now and that's exactly where the depth of strength in this WR class is. Boston, Brazzell, Bell, Concepcion are all potential BPAs at that point and we do have 4 potential long term issues at the position. That might be solved by signing Boutte and Pop to long-term deals pre-draft and then it's much less of an issue but I do think it's worth pointing out that there are decent options available.

This draft class at 29-32 gets a lot weaker if you take WR off the board.
