Ditto, and a veteran of WW2. A die hard Patriots fan even if he gave up on other Boston sports teams. As he was dying of heart disease, he said he wanted to die at home, not in a hospital with tubes and wires, somebody banging on his chest. HE said that he lived with dignity and planned on dying with dignity. He had hospice care in Florida and I flew down every weekend. Towards the end, he was according to his hospice nurse, "out of it" and totally unconscious.
My conversation went like this
me-"Dad, Pats are on TV tonight (it was August- Fri preseason)
dad- "what time"
me- "8 pm"
dad- "what channel"
me whatever it was
dad- "well put the game on"
The look on nurse's face was priceless.
When Sox won in '04 I called to ask if he was excited and his response," don't get too excited, it will be another 86 years before they win it again."
I'm torn on tonight's game. If the Steelers lose, then the Ravens will now be only one game out of the division and they haven't played each other yet. I'll take the Chargers tonight.
