2025 Draft: Defensive Tackles

How much better is Mason Graham than the other 1st rd DTs? And the day 2 and day 3 guys?

Kinda seeking confirmation that it's better to pick him rather than trade down.
There isn't a massive drop off between Graham and Walter Nolen, Kenneth Grant or Derrick Harmon but it does exist. Where Graham excels is consistency. He was the no 1 graded DT each of the last two years.

As for the day 2/3 guys, there's some real talent although obviously with lower floors. You could, for example, draft CJ West on day 3 for your A gap DT (11th highest graded) and Darius Alexander as your B-gap defender (2nd highest).

You draft Graham because you want a leader & tone-setter to build your D/Line around. If you want extra picks or to draft a different position in round one, you can still find starting talent on day 2&3.

Whilst researching the answer above, I discovered just how consistent CJ West has been the last three years.

2022 - 8th highest graded DT in this class
2023 - 5th highest
2024 - 12th highest

Note - the drop this past season can be explained by his switch from Kent State to a higher level of opponent at Indiana. Across all 3 seasons, only Mason Graham beat him in all 3 seasons.

IF Barmore comes back with Mason Graham we would have a Feared D! There's not many guys on the Planet who can do that at that size Mason Graham is a Special Player.
Yup. I'm even thinking of bumping Graham ahead of Travis Hunter because of the 'build the lines first' mantra.

It helps when you hit on most of your picks and not accumulate Busts.
Yup. That's a 70% hit rate right there. I imagine coaching plays a part too.

Pump the Brakes manman: Travis Hunter is one of Two players I would take over Graham... Abdul Carter being the next. I think Hunter - Carter and Graham will all be IMPACT Players. I hope we get one.

I would like Travis Hunter for two reasons WR/CB. I think he's going to be very good at both the boy can ball!

I still value the talent of Hunter but I'd be holding my nose with the card in my other hand lol

And the only way we don't get 1 is if neither QB gets taken in the top 3.

Yeah I'm out on Campbell in the top 10. He's a guard IMO.
Yeah I'm passing on a T'rex arm Tackle also. That won't cut it at the next level.

Really hoping unorthodox Tennessee or Cleveland fall in love with Cam Ward. S Sanders ain't passing the Giants. The Free Agent QB Class is terrible good for us.
