It's like golf in that the lowest score wins. So for example I predicted 25-21 and the actual score was 25-19 so I was 0 points off for the Pats and 2 points off for the Saints, so my score is 0+2=2.

I used to run a different type of pool years ago for a few friends. I called it a dinner pool because the winner of each half season and the total season would get a night out for dinner and drinks from the rest of us at any place of their choice. We'd pick every game each week and get the point differential. If your team won by 20 you'd get +20 and if they lost by 20 you'd get -20. The record wasn't as important as staying away from blowouts.
