2025 / 2026 College watch thread

For people wondering, while this isn't a finished edge list and i have more guys i looked at so am not giving the full list... this is my current top 5 and where i have them in the draft.

#1 Bailey (Feels like a pick 11-16 guy)
#2 Faulk (20-24)
#3 Mesidore (18-48) - depends on if a team is looking for a younger guy or safer option... if focused just on the rookie deal take the upside.
#4 Bain (28-36) - while some have him much lower i can't see him falling outside the top few picks of the 2nd. Too safe a prospect. Too pro ready. But I think he has more limited upside than the top 3.
#5 Parker (33-48) I originally had him as a top 32 JUST BARELY... but i think i'm going to move him down just a tad to top 48... probably more on the higher side. But looking back i was probably a tiny bit too generous.

That is where i am. And yes... indeed all roads to lead to Mesidore. I've been Mesi-pilled. I'd love to get him without our first round pick, but only cause i am a greedy man and hope we can trade up for him later or trade down for value.

No love for R Mason?

Mesi-pilled. Ha! Love it.

As for TJ Parker, I just can't ignore his 11 sack season last year. Maybe I'm wrong but it festers when I think about where I'd take him. I agree he's probably a 2d rounder based upon this year alone.

No-one closes to the QB quite like him . Personally i just think he's too limited in how he wins to think he's a guaranteed success in the NFL.
Idk I saw some where he showed strength to just bull rush.

Tulane being in these playoffs just feels wrong. Their mascot and design sucks. Also their school name feels stupid. 'Tulane'. It is weird just to say. They have no history. I imagine a lot of people watching this today are thinking 'What the hell is Tulane?" Where is ND or Texas?

Final stats in from our three Miami faves

Mesidor - 11 pressures, 1 sack, 1 defensive stop
Bain - 7 pressures, 3 sacks, 5 defensive stops
Scott - 3 pressures, 2 sacks, 6 tackles, 4 defensive stops (did have 3 missed tackles though I thought none were egregious)

Credit to the Green Wave for keeping this game closer than I expected after that first quarter. I am always rooting for the Cinderella story. The loss of Lane may be factoring into this.

I argued for Texas over Miami and ND based on strength of schedule.

Ducks getting cute after 1 scoring drive is not cool.

Oregon TE Jamari Johnson with a TD on the first drive.

Oops

Jamari Johnson 41yd TD.

Mike Renner has him #45 overall, and #2 TE after his teammate, Kenyon Sadiq.

I'm not staying up for this Oregon game. There's only one way it's going to go.

Well, Americans are pretty ignorant according to the rankings, so I can see that.

Well aside from the Miami v TAMU game which I thoroughly enjoyed, round 1 was a damp squib.

The QFs look to be much more competitive although I think Oregon will be the only team that will be able to disrupt the seeded teams. As much as I like Texas Tech, Oregon, Ohio State, Indiana and Georgia are the 4 best teams in CFB. It's hard to bet against Ohio State but I have a feeling it's Georgia's year this year. Indiana and Oregon can beat either though.

Akheem Mesidor v Austin Siereveld tonight. Should be fun.

With four very competitive games this new year, we're going to find out a lot about a number of very good draft prospects. It's the first big test for the Texas Tech defenders against the Oregon offense, Bain & Mesidor v Siereveld, Yhonzae Pierre v Carter Smith, the 'Bama secondary v the Indiana passing game. It should be fun.
