2024 NFL Draft Thread (Continued..)

Every QB thinks that and wants to start. Until they get to be about 30+

You think Fitzpatrick didn't believe that?

Or even Hoyer?
Matt Cassel went into practices with the mindset "I'm going to try and outplay Tom Brady."

I would not draft an OT at #3 (even if said OT becomes a 1st ballot NFL HOF player. The 2 top ranked ones can be taken with the #5 through #7 Picks possibly.
The question is . . . what do they do if they don't like the QB left at 3 and none of the teams in that range offer an acceptable trade?

They take MHJ.

Garoppolo did.

Maybe Cassel should have? After Cassel went 11-5, he probably thought Brady's time was over.

Oh man, to be the Bears in this draft!
If they decide to stick with Fields, they're going to have a blast at the draft. Dangle the #1 pick around, up the bidding, let the rumors fly...then trade it to the Commanders (you know Kingsbury would kill for Williams).

Now you have pick #2 and all the other goodies Washington gave you. The Patriots want a QB...rinse and repeat from pick 1, up the bidding, then swap with the Pats for pick #3 plus.

Then take MHJ, who was your choice all along to put with Fields.
None of the players in the top 3 is so great as to justify giving up an extra first to "get their guy."

I'm going to go ahead and guess that Cassel knew that he was playing for a big pay day elsewhere unless Brady couldn't recover from his knee injury.

Okay so news breaking that Vikings may be in market for a top QB in the draft.

Should we trade down to #11 for their 2nd, 3rd & 1st rounder in '25?
Then pick LT (Alt or Fashanu), OR Nix at 11?
And BPA (LT), WR, TE, RB with the 4 picks in 2nd & 3rd...
Essentially rebooting the offense with a lot of young talent for whichever FA QB they can get to groom Nix for a year.

If they are confident that the can get one of the great players in this draft at a position of need, then “yes”.

Certainly one of the top WRs, Fashanu, or Bowers could be there, maybe even a rising QB, like McCarthy?

Who knows who the late risers could be?

And that's how the Bears lose out on MHJ if the Patriots don't like whoever's left.
And?

If the Pats don’t bite and they REALLY want MHJ, they take him at 2 and have still picked up picks from the Commanders.

My point is, if he’s their guy, they have a shot at getting a fortune for picks one and two and still getting him. They could easily come out of the draft with a lot more draft capital than they started with, and still get their number one guy.

That far of a trade down from 3 is = 2 1sts, 2 2nds, 1 3rd, at the very least.

#11 to #3 is similar to the 49ers trade with the Dolphins.

Doesn't that make my point for me?

I think we are on the same side here.....what we have isn't good enough to plan around, and they arent good options for a bridge....Brissett may be.

34 to 29 isn't going to cost much; maybe a 4th.

I'm more concerned about not having the 2nd for a LT in this case than the cost to trade up.
