I love the prove em wrong attitude that Maye shows here. This is exactly how you need to deal with the media in New England. They are going to skew towards the negative and you have to hold up the self-belief in yourself, your team, and your coach, above the inevitable naysayers.

Honestly the critics would’ve been ready to **** on the Pats regardless unless they achieved a massive haul from the Vikings and acquired McCarthy.

And that wasn’t happening. It was Maye or McCarthy at 3 and the Pats made the correct choice to go with the ceiling potential and potentially elite physical talent.

Drake Maye was the sensible move at 3 and they did the right thing.

JJ McCarthy had some appeal from a nostalgic point of view being a Michigan QB. The fact that the Wolverine Brady and Spartan Hoyer had several stints together brings me comfort knowing that the Tar Heel and Wolf (Wolfpack member for singular?) now are teammates on America’s true team.

And he also could have wasted that 40ish pick on a small, slow unheralded safety out of Rutgers. Even with the extra picks, I still don't miss him in the Patriots draft room.

Agreed. All the defensive tackles and plodding linebackers in the world don't matter if you don't have a quarterback.
