Or maybe, just maybe, they think the line sucked last year and they understand the necessity or improving it. You all give way to much credit to them. That line was awful for most of the year. It had to be upgraded.

Agreed. You are right in Bold.

In response we drafted two flat footed OLmen, one RT when we just signed a multi- million dollar RT, and one RG when our RG from last year was one of the best rookies on the team.

Or maybe, just maybe, if we are drafting for need, we should draft for an actual need. But you knew that already, so why are you acting otherwise?

I have died on that hill…Cole Strange should have been playing LT from the beginning.

I would agree if the team was not incredibly ****. At this point you are attempting to improve talent across the roster. If you draft someone with the intent of them starting but they are just a backup as long as they are better than the previous backup it is still a win. The 4th round is not a guarantee to find exceptional talent.

It feels like everyone thinks that after 1 FA and draft we should be playoff bound. It feels like there are some very unreasonable expectations and maybe mine are as well.

Not sure why you feel that in Bold. Very few posters, if any, feel that. You are mistaken. Just because we have small differences in opinion does not mean anyone thinks we are playoff bound.

Yes, I agree, we are trying to improve the talent across the roster. If we draft all backups it is not a win. A win is drafting three starters. Those are the statistics. If we draft three backups, OR one starter and two backups, OR two starters and one backup, we will never be significant. Those are the stats.

Yes, the 4th round is not a guarantee, that is why you draft guys with a lot of upside in the 4th like Baker. Baker will be a challenge from a management perspective, but at least we have a difference maker. Robinson playing behind Sow, playing behind Onwenu, seems to make no sense at all. Unless there is something that the fans can not understand. It looks like the Pats are going to be a power running team, and they are proving it by drafting power RGs who we do not need.

Great post. Wallace and Robinson might start in 2025 - GB approach. In 2025 Strange might not be resigned, move Sow to LG, Onwenu to RG, Wallace to RT, and a 1st round LT. The question is why did the Pats draft a RG in the 4th round before Baker?
Strange was end of 1st round, so he has a 5 year contract. Next year will be his 3rd year.

No it is not. It is a lousy draft. 3 starters is a good draft.

So which three Patriots picks would you predict will be starting by year's end?
Injuries to starters don't count.

I have no idea. Baker and/or Polk might start. Everyone says that Maye needs a lot of work, so we will see. I am not a fan of the two offensive lineman. I do not know the late round guys. We will see if it turns out to be a good draft or not.

This pick is the one that I question the most. If not for Baker on day 3 I would have been down on the class as a whole.

Sorry, I should have specified that is across several platforms. Including but not limited to here, reddit, youtube, other forums that I check out. You're right that it may not be a lot here but it seems that way when all platforms are accounted for.

Can't believe this didn't get a thread glad we decided to move on.

I'd rather have seen them rid themselves of Wheatley... I mean does this ****ing dude even ****ing exist?

Technically for first rounders it’s a 4-year contract with a team option for a 5th year. Unless Strange plays a lot better this coming season I don’t see them picking up that 5th year option next spring.

Sow, Andrews and Mafi were backups on a really bad OL.

It is not at all clear that they are starters or even quality backups.

We brought in Leverette and Robinson. They may be as good as Mafi and Sow.

Sow is the real question mark. Why spend a 4th on a backup RG? The staff could have signed an OL that wasn't so limited. The answer is NOT that the staff doesn't know what they are doing. We are not talking about choice of player as much as choice of position. Wolf really wanted a RG. The 4th round is a premium position for an OG.

One way or another, LT is a $hi*show and needs to be addressed early in 2025 draft unless Wallace magically proves to be a capable LT (I’m pretty skeptical on that)

Taking the C and LT out, as well as Strange being down, I wondering what combination is best

LG: Wallace
RG: Sow
RT: Onwenu

LG: Sow
RG: Onwenu
RT: Wallace

LG: Sow
RG: Robinson
RT: Onwenu
* Wallace prepping LT permanently

Looking forward to finding out.

I’m thinking Strange is the real question mark, not Sow. But I could be wrong on that.
