2018-19 Stanley Cup - Bruins vs Blues

My job entails lots of evening calls/meetings. Games are either over or just ending when I'm free. Then I catch up with my kids since I blew them off for the work calls.

I'd love for the games to start 8 pm here, but you would all hate that.

Regards,
Chris
the hell with the kids. get your priorities straight man.

is it true jumbo joe Thornton retired after the game?

He probably should. His skating skills deteriorated as his age would dictate, but what also dropped off were his hands. It was sad seeing him separated from the puck with ease and especially the unforced giveaways.

Chris

Good or bad match-up for the Bruins?
Tough one to call. St. Louis will definitely get the underdog billing and Boston has the better lineup, but St. Louis is big and has been showing a lot of the same toughness and tenacity that Boston has. I think it comes down to goaltending and if Tuuka is at the same level he has been the Boston wins, but it'll be interesting to see how both teams come back after a long break by playoff standards.

Heh. Conversely, 10am Sunday Pats games rule!

Chris
you didn't see any of the games in 2011 when they played in Vancouver? if not you need a hockey intervention. or maybe an exorcism. there has to be some Bruins fan deep in your soul that still exists. there has to be., I won't give up on your Chris.

I think it's a great matchup for hockey fans. The Blues strength is their D, B's is their forwards. Strength on strength makes for great hockey. Where the B's have a real advantage over the Blues is ST's, both their PK and their PP are significantly better than StL's. The Blues will need to stay outta the sin bin.

the bruins have the advantage in net also.

The Vancouver games still started early for your convenience. Might as well played all the games in Boston.

I was in Izmir, Turkey for game 7. Woke up to discover the Bruins won.

They should have the advantage in net but the layoff concerns me more there than anywhere else. I played goal at the collegiate level and while this is no attempt to equate the two I do know first hand that layoffs can be death to a netminders timing, when a goalie is in the zone he wants to stay there. I've been following the game a long time and I've had the good fortune to watch plenty of HoF goaltenders at the top of their games. In the Columbus series Rask was seeing the puck and intuiting the game as well as anyone I've ever seen. It would be a sin if the layoff knocks him out of that zone.

rask played his best hockey this year after a ten-day layoff. he took a leave of absence and returned fresh as a daisy and played great. they went off on the 19 game point streak. if any goalie can deal with a long layoff. its rask.

That’s my biggest concern as well. Overall I think the Bruins match up better against the bigger teams than they do a team like Toronto, but it should be a great series. Hopefully Rask keeps it going, but at least the Blues have a fairly long layoff as well.

If the Bruins lose, I blame Belichick for not providing good advice.

Toronto - 5 seed
CBJ- 8 seed
Carolina- 7 seed
STL- 5 seed

Gotta go all the way with a path like that.

home ice seems irrelevant in today's NHL
