As of now, the Patriots have two quarterbacks (Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett) signed for the 2014 season. Their respective cap numbers are $14,800,000 and $937,945. Tom's 2014 $2 million salary is fully guaranteed. Have seen conflicting reports on whether or not Brady's 2015/2016/2017 salaries become fully guaranteed if he is on the Pats roster at the end of the 2014 season. Some reports have it as all 3 seasons. Others - just the 2015 season. I expect clarification as we come to the end of the 2014 season. Do not expect any changes to their contracts in 2014. Do expect the Pats to draft a developmental quarterback as Mallett will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2014 season. If traded, Mallett will cost $160,969. Net cap savings of a Mallett trade is $281,976 as a player with a salary of $495,000 will replace Mallett's salary of $776,976.
