De-Feet the Jets game. Ugh. Rex had the last laugh.
Brady failed to adjust. Terrible loss.
When Crumpler dropped a sure TD in the end zone that divisional game kinda felt like something weird was going to happen. That season we should have at least gotten to another SB..
Things in the regular season really went our way.

Belichick deserves credit for the effort he made to keep his teams focused, and positive.

But, like the rest of the world, he was no Red Auerbach.

This is one of the unfortunate many examples of seasons where Bill just did not have the team focused, positive and driven.

This time, we had Welker sitting out the first series due to comments about feet. Not making this up. This is stuff you'd expect from the 1990 Patriots.

Meanwhile, the Jets were sky high thanks to Dennis Byrd

Great offense. MVP QB. Defense seemed good. Start of the Gronk Hernandez pairing.

Did you think that was a SB bound team? And..were you shocked the Jets upset them? It feels like 9/10 times they win that game and likely wipe the floor with Pittsburgh. Beating GB in the SB with Rodgers would have been tough of course.
They were obviously not a SB-bound team as they were soft defensively. They were not Pitt or the NYJ caliber.

Offensively the 2010 version of the NEP was so much fun yet ended with an unbelievably painful outcome to the season.

All I remember is thinking they were an absolute wagon and was shocked when the Jets eliminated them.

Agreed. Also we had beaten them 45-3 that season. So the Jets pride was hurt. We started that season with Moss and welker the focal points of the offense and by the time we played the Jets again it was Gronk and Hernandez. I felt like that gave us an advantage as we could attack them in the middle of the field. From kick off that game I just had a weird feeling about the game. The regular season was awesome though. Just 2 losses Jets and Browns that year.

They lost just 2 games all season. They led the league in take aways.. even though they were rebuilding on defense brady and the offense was so multiple that they could give defenses fits

That 2010 team was too finesse, too soft and had fatal flaws. Tom was the highest paid player in the entire NFL. They just committed a massive contract to DT Ty Warren and he instantly suffered a career ending hip injury… there was no way to recoup that money, and money was already tight.

That was a massive blow, as if that wasn’t enough they gave a fat short term deal to Leigh Bodden to be their “big” shutdown CB for a couple years and he instantly suffered a career ending injury.

Team building in the NFL is managing the cap, as much as that pains some people here to read. The loss of two of their biggest impact defenders was too much. Other flaws like Law Firm simply being an average runner and zero threat in the pass game stood out after that. It’s a team game, even if you have the best QB in history and dangerous receiving weapons.
