They went undefeated right?

say....didnt their starting QB get hurt and lose MOST (not all) of the season?

AFTER losing in the SB the previous season?

im not saying were going undefeated...but there are a LOT of similarities here...

SB is a very possible option

Of course, the 1972 Dolphin's backup quarterback, Earl Morrill, was a veteran who started in the Super Bowl three years prior.

Morrall backed up 2 HOF QBs that both went down to injury the year the team went to the SB.

Morrall was a journeyman back up, playing for the Lions before coming to the Colts in '68.
Colts in '68 had Unitas who was hurt in game 3. Morrall came in and went undefeated the rest of the season, until the Jets in SB3.
Phins in '72, Morrall replaced Griese who was hurt later in the season, I believe game 10.

Other interesting point, both teams, Colts and Phins were coached by Shula when they went to the SB with Morrall.

i wasnt asking for a history lesson....

just pointing out some similarities...LOL

Oh, I agree with you, significant similarities, I was just trying to embellish. all 3 teams have / had HOF coaches, HOF QB hurt that got hurt replaced by a back up. Morrall was also the MVP the year he replaced Unitas, not for his great stats, but, his mistake free season and great field management.....
