There's your story of the game and why Brady was pounded.

You pass and don't even commit to the run then you get predictable.

I was in total shock that they didn't try 3 tight ends or a running formation like in the San Diego game. The Packers lost this way too.

Especially as we were ahead most of the game. I could have seen it if we were behind and felt like we had to score but we led by 4 for a good chunk of the game.

There were only two tightends dressed for the game. Which I thought was a mistake to begin with. I guess that they wanted to keep the Defense fresh. That's why Smith was out there. Surprisingly, Smith and Woods made some decent plays while they were out there. I'm surprised that we didn't see more of them after that.

Maybe Charlie Weis was calling the plays. He always got slammed for giving up on the run too quickly. I guess McDaniels learned from his mentor.

Anyone see Heath Evans????

Anyone see Heath evans for protection or lead blocker on runs???

Losing Faulk severely hurt the run game's effectiveness.

Though I agree that the entire game was called like the Pats were down 2 scores.

Losing Faulk?

He came back... remember when he almost scored before moss eventually did?

Not committing to the ryan was the issue.

run game effectiveness? Maroney was the dominant runner last few weeks. Run game wasnt working before Faulk got hurt in what 3rd quarter?

its simple..OL didnt run block nor did they pass block. young skipper calling the plays just went into PANIC MODE and passed non stop.

i'd love to see how many passes vs runs in the 3rd quarter and the fourth quarter.

i think they ran once in the 4th quarter.

And I'm pretty sure it went for 9 yards...

One or two runs when we got to the 6 would have been nice ...
It would but we also had to get a TD. If we run twice and get to the 2 and have a 3rd and goal from the 2 - we have to pass. Still 2:20 or so left on the clock with the Giants calling timeouts. One incomplete pass, we kick the FG and the NYG have two minutes a timeout and only need a FG.

You can make a strong argument for running at least once but getting up by 4 was the most important thing. If we were under 2 minutes and the NYG only had one timeout left then I'm definitely running twice.

I would have played three TE sets, but had an O-linemen declare as eligible. Now that I think about it. With all the protection problems NE was having I really wonder why they didn't use more max protect and jumbo packages. It wasn't that the Giants shutdown NE's WR's. Moss was open plenty, as was Stallworth, but Brady didn't have the time needed to get them the ball down field.

Also, Maroney got shutdown on some runs (The Giants D-line played awsome), but then he'd go for 8 or 9 yards the next time they gave him the ball. So, I really don't know why they completely went away from the run, especially in such a close game, where their passing offense wasn't doing jack for most of the game. I also think some of those long bombs to moss (throughout the game) would have worked better out of the jumbo where the giants might have thought run first so Moss gets wide open.

PS: it was crazy seeing Moss still running right by those DB's in the fourth quarter, and getting open even against double coverage, but Brady just couldn't get the protection he needed. If Brady had a little protection Moss could have scored two or three long bomb TD's.
