2nd year in the system, tough kid that knows everything is against him.
He beat Cooper Kupps record in school, Kupp is one of the Smartest WRS in the league.

All these Twitter guys keep saying kick-return group without specifying kickoff or punt-return (or do they mean „kick“off ONLY?).

It confuses me a bit as kickoff & punt returns are kindof 2 different body types & I see those types intermingled on one list and don’t know who is nr 1 KO vs PR… can anybody clarify for me from camp reports or someone actually saw the drills -who was participating in which?

I think Hollins as somebody else mentioned may be used as a hybrid TE. Not sure if he has practiced in that role

Lazar mentioned on 3 different platforms that for him this is semantics ( for purpose of putting a depth chart on paper) and has nothing to do with on field usage.

He sees Hollins as NEVER able to be used as an inline hand-in-dirt TE, but as a WR he already does the same TE routes and downfield run/yac-pass blocking you expect of a TE. But his body frame could never hold up vs DT or Edge players, so is a pointless word argument.

Iirc at least one of the twitter morons said kick return & Baringer in same post. Maybe the rest are consistent, but it’s been annoying me for ~3 days that I wasn’t sure which ST ( or both) they were referring to.

If Patsfans are looking for a running back who can block, don't forget the often-injured Terrell Jennings. He became my binkie in his first off-season when I saw him absolutely flatten a blitzing linebacker.

I love that Maye is hell bent on going at elite corners in this league. He doesn’t let a CB’s pedigree or prestige dictate his aggressive play style. It could be Gonzo (practice), Surtain, Stingley, Ward, Mitchell etc…he doesn’t care. Many QBs are too timid/reluctant to do so, and it hinders their ability to create big plays.

Just some comments on the comments:

1. Another benefit of having AJ on the team is that he gets to practice against the "best CB in the league". I can only imagine that this practice competition can only make each of them better over the course of the season. AJ will think Sundays are a holiday most weeks and when he DOES face a top CB, he will be prepared.

2. In the great scheme of things, I think people and pundits are both getting ahead of themselves given that it's only been the 2nd day of pads. I would hold all judgements UNTIL we get to the 2 joint practices. These are actually more important than the preseason games themselves since starters rarely play more than a series or two, if that. That being said, I have to admit I DO like to here that Campbell looks stouter and stronger at the point of attack. I like that AVT is all he's been hyped up to be, and Wilson actually DOES look like an upgrade at C. Those are 3 uber athletic OLmen next to 2 power guys in Owenu and the old man.

3 There is no need for 7 WRs under ANY condition. You can make a much better case for 5 than 7. The WR room has been seriously upgraded this season. AJB and Doubs are a much better 1-2 than we had last season. Boutte is making a strong case for being a 2B, and Douglas and Williams have both shined at times this summer and the barefoot wonder is the ultimate utility tool that you can use all over the field. It is talented, it is deep and the kids will benefit greatly in that it will be their 2nd year in the system.

4. AJ IS a top 10 WR in this league, but there WILL be a learning curve as he adjusts to Josh's offense. It is kind of unique in the league at this point. So, not only does he have to fight Gonzo every day, he has to learn a difficult offensive scheme as well. If you like what you are seeing from him now, just think how good he'll look 3 months from now, when he gets his training wheels off. So I wouldn't get nervous if he has a bad day or two this summer. It's all part of the process.

5. Same goes for the OL, who had issues with blitz's the other day. So much about good OL play is continuity and there are a lot of new interactions that have to be learned with between the LT, LG, and C, so they are all seeing the same thing at the same time, and there is nothing that can speed that up but REPATITIONS.

6. The key word around Henderson is "VISION" or his lack of it. The kid is a threat to go all the way every time he touches the ball, but he leaves a lot of yds on the table on more "pedestrian" runs by his lack of vision. I hope this will improve this season, but it too will take time and won't suddenly appear overnight. I hope he gets a lot of work this preseason and we can see at least SOME improvement.

7. With Jacas' condition still in doubt, I wouldn't mind seeing Clowney brought in even with his age. There seems to be a lot of talk about him going to the Browns, but if he signs with Browns when he could have signed with the Pats, then I say good riddance. I want someone who wants to be with a team who can compete for a Superbowl and that is NOT the Cleveland Browns

Let’s hope he’s successful because the team needs him to be. He’s looked good the last couple days in the padded practices. I was hoping Bedard would say what you did because isn’t that what Bedard said about Gronk coming out of Arizona.

Random thoughts:

-We obviously lost; but we were just in the Super Bowl…The Super Bowl..

-Yes, things change from season to season. However, Maye & the offense has seen the toughest defenses the league has to offer & came out victorious against all but Seattle. Houston, Denver, Chargers etc are all excellent units. I love that Maye has been through the gauntlet this early. Honestly, how much more complex can things get after seeing these units all in ONE postseason? There will probably be a few more teams like the Rams, Eagles, Vikings & Ravens that should improve (especially if the Rams sign Donald), but I don’t see any of these units usurping what the aforementioned units did last season and/or they’re not on our schedule. We’ve also improved offensively. In a nutshell, we’ve already been to hell & back. If we stay healthy, no defense is scary. None.

-My favorite draft pick TE Eli Raridon has been making waves during camp. He says that the NFL game is slowing down for him; which is huge. He’s obviously a rookie & TE has one of the steepest learning curves to acclimate to, but if he continues on this trajectory & provides this offense with that young, athletic juice we’ve been looking for at TE since Gronk….this offense….WOW…


-God…please assist TreyVeon Henderson with his vision & patience while blocks develop. The offense would be unstoppable.


-Anyone know how rookie LB Obiazor has looked in camp? Particularly in coverage. I haven’t heard much or maybe I overlooked it.

-Pete Collins X: Follow-up: Khalil Jacobs stacked another strong day. To my eye, he's looked more comfortable and more impactful than Namdi Obiazor early in camp. Jacobs continues building a strong case for defensive snaps this season.

-On Thursday Obiazor blew up a screen pass.

As Belichick has said in the past, a quality te is the most dangerous player a qb/ offense can have.
I agree completely. As great as Moss was, Gronk at his peak was better than Moss at his peak. He could do so much more and was a match up nightmare.
On top of that, he created mismatches for his teamates: rbs and wrs.
Im obviously not comparing Raridon to the GOAT te. But even just a good te can transform an offense.
It will take a few years for him to reach his peak as the position has a steep learning curve. But Im excited to see his progress.
