If the org wanted loyalty from him they would have just given him the multi years he wanted to retire here instead of playing games after years of him taking below market rate to help the team reach unprecedented heights. Agreed - I guess the "conflict" was that Brady wanted to see Kubiac, who he was recruiting to be HC, to win the SB to give the Raiders more credibility.

I guess the "conflict" is that he did have a dog in the fight - but surely didn't want to openly root against the Patriots

Every team in the SB will try to get as much intel as they can on the other team - any insights Brady had were the same insights any coach or owner could have provided since the only intel he had were as that of an observer.

Heck - I think there have been some years when teams add a former HC or coordinator as a "consultant" after they get fired from their team to help them through a playoff run - nothing wrong with that, and I think Belichick has even done that

Nonsense on both counts. For the millionth time, WHY should the Krafts offer Brady -- or any other ex-player, for that matter -- an ownership stake? Aside from that, IIRC league bylaws prohibit such transactions involving players previously under contract.

As for his family, with $300 million already in the bank Brady's "best" move might be staying home more.
