Doug Farrar on Defensive Evolution

I'm wondering if they believe they can address the OTB LB position in the next free agency? Like RB it has become a seriously undervalued position financially speaking, which makes it ripe to go after in free agency, and allows them to use the draft for the more overpriced positions, like WR.
Wolf in a predraft interview said they would address the position late in the draft calling it a deep draft at that spot. They took Obiazor and brought in some UDFA’s.

They’ll take this season to see if the position is filled and if not revisit next offseason. This is the way…

There's not a lot out there. Jordyn Brooks, Patrick Queen ... if not re-signed.

Yep. I checked after my post and saw that the next free agency is crap for off the ball linebackers. It's going to have to be a high draft pick.

The Pats D when healthy was among the best in the NFL all season.
Great job making my argument for me. Thank you.
They don’t choose who they get to play or decide who is healthy.

All 32 teams deal with injury, are the Seahawks results diminished because some opponents were dealing with injuries.

So, just give up on it for this season?

That doesn’t seem likely to me. Not the style of this coaching staff.

I think it’s more likely they think they have some players in the pipeline ready to step up and take a bigger role. Time will tell.

Where did I say that? We were talking about addressing the position for the future and I said that they could go free agent in 2027, but after looking at it realized they would have to address it in the draft. We weren't talking about this season:

OTB LB is a need for this season.

The Dolphins played the same schedule and somehow didn’t end up in the Super Bowl with one of the top ranked defenses statistically.

Your point again?

I agree, but that's not what Mayo and I were talking about.?
I think it’s ridiculous to talk about future approaches to solving a present problem.

Either you give up on solving it now, as I said,
or you solve it now so it’s no longer a problem that needs to be solved in the future.

Thanks Dad, but we can talk about whatever we want to talk about. If you don't like it then don't participate. And if you can't solve a problem now then the only way to solve it is in the future: And it's very unlikely that the Patriots SOLVE that problem now, all they can do is put a band aid on it until..........wait for it........the next draft or free agency, which is exactly what we were talking about until you entered the conversation and tried to dictate what we could and could not talk about.

NEWSFLASH: Until further notice there will be no more discussions about what the Patriots can do tomorrow until today is over. n1997y will then tell us what we can and cannot discuss when tomorrow comes.

But we can criticize what BB did 10 years ago forever. Timeless.
I'll never be able to forgive him for 9 Super Bowl appearances, 6 Championships, some unbelievably memorable games. Especially since it was all Brady running the Offense, Defense and Special Teams. BB was obviously just a figurehead. Let's just remember him as a curmudgeon who conducted bad press conferences and couldn't draft a second round receiver.

Nice twist after it was you telling me not to talk about today’s problem because that’s not what you’re discussing.

Sorry but I’m just doing what you told me to do, talking about what I think is important. If you don’t like it that’s just ts.
