Hypothetical: I don't think Vrabel's going anywhere, but if he was ousted, your thoughts on Mike Tomlin?

Vrabel isn't going anywhere.

But hypothetically?

Tomlin would be the second guy i'd interview, right after i promised the job to Josh McDaniels.

Got the rooney rule covered without looking like you just interviewed some random qualifier, You get the guy you want... win/win

Not a huge fan of Tomlin. Don't get me wrong. He is a good coach and he elevated some really bad Steelers' teams. But he also seemed way too content to be a borderline playoff team and going one and done in the playoffs. With all those times he made the playoffs the last decade, he should have lucked in to at least one win.

Hypothetical question: I don't think Vrabel's job is in jeopardy, but if he was ousted, what do you think of Mike Tomlin? If offered, I don't see how Tomlin could turn it down. A playoff team with a young QB, etc.
I would have to politely decline. I've never been a fan of his, albeit I also can't argue his record year after year, despite having some rough rosters. I will give him credit, because that part is certainly undeniable.

And I'd agree on McDaniels for the continuity with Drake Maye and hope that he's learned from two rough stints. I just don't know if he'd be able to surround himself with the same quality people ... the rest of this staff is really, really good.

This would be a crazy twist for Josh McDaniels. The only reason he’s back in the league was because of Mike Vrabel. Now if Vrabel steps down or temporarily (which seems like a real possibility if the media continues to talk about it), McDaniels could end up being the HC of the Patriots. The case against McDaniels is that now he’ll have more on his plate which has been his downfall in Denver and LV. The case for him is that he’s already comfortable with Maye and he won’t have full control.

McDermott would be the Bills worst nightmare. He’s unlikely because then he’ll change the philosophy on defense again.

No to Tomlin.

I think McD would do fine here, in New England... Ownership knows him, and more importantly, would fully support him... hes worked in in Denver and LV and had the rug pulled out from under him when things started to get rocky... wouldn't happen here... with that support i dont think the surrounding cast would disappear overnight...

I'd only use him as a Rooney Rule token.

I don't think Vrabel is going anywhere over this but should a vacancy at HC arise for this team I do believe, unlike when BB left, there's more than one suitable in-house replacement here already.

Zak Kuhr would be my first choice. Young and that side of the ball delivered in the post season.

I like Josh but twice he’s called the plays while he was head coach and it didn’t workout, maybe I would be in favor of it if he turned over the play calling to someone after one season.

HELL NAW, we don't want Captain "mid". I'd rather have Brian Flores. In regards to Josh, I just don't think he's head coaching material. A hell of an OC but not meant to run an entire franchise.

This report originated with the Daily Mail and I don't believe its accuracy in the slightest.

no issues with that

If Vrabel is ousted I hope Kraft brings back Mayo.

That would only start to be the appropriate punishment for dumping Vrabel.
