Yes, but my current home town of Nashua, AKA the Athens of America, easily makes NH God Tier by itself. We have a mall with both a JCPenney and a Macey's, our very own minor minor league baseball team, 2 world class casinos, and a luxurious private dog park for discerning folks who don't want their purebred mounted by a mutt.

We moved to NH last year and we both love it. It beats Taxachusetts by a country mile. I can see why CW likes it.

To be fair, NH certainly is pretty great with their cheap booze and nice rest areas.

I have no context to draw from as I've lived my whole life in NH. Pretty great though. If you don't mind the winters that is.

Love NH
Spent decades on Lake Winnipesaukee, summer and winter.
Meredith Bay in the winter can be the most amazing spectacle, at least it use to be. Car races, hockey games, ice sailboats, horses, snow mobile rallies, ice fishing tournaments, etc. You never knew what you would see on a given day.
The lake has evolved and unfortunately has become incredibly crowded. The boat speed limit is a turn off....but give me a hot day on the lake over a day on a Cape Cod beach any day.
The White Mountains are amazing with so much to do there, summer and winter....though I gave up on New England skiing once I got a sampling of skiing out west.

Negatives:
Crushing property taxes in certain towns
The mind-bending state 'real estate transfer tax' that nails both buyers and sellers of properties. (a double sales tax)

Ah, the Pheasant Lane Mall... no greater hive of teenage scum and pimple faced villainy in all New England. But as a kid all I wanted was to go there for Taco Bell and the arcade so I could win some 40 year old sweet tarts playing skeeball.

Winovich better shut his mouth and learn to take some coaching, or he's going to find himself stuck in demon-tier Ohio or Michigan in a couple of years.

Lived here my whole life. It's a great place to raise a family. Property taxes are a problem in certain areas, like you mention. You're correct on the traffic on the big lake, but there's plenty of other lakes without the high traffic.

I love living in New Hampshire. Maybe it is so pleasant because Daniel Webster kicked the devil out of our state. "... and with that he drew back his foot for a kick that would have stunned a horse. It was only the tip of his shoe that caught the stranger, but he went flying out of the door with his collecting box under his arm ... And he hasn't been seen in the state of New Hampshire from that day to this. I'm not talking about Massachusetts or Vermont."

it's funny seeing someone quip about how they ran away from 'taxachusetts' to New Hampshire.....MA has the 2nd lowest tax burden in New England...there's about a 1.5% difference in tax burden between NH and MA......now that's something to lose your sh*t over
