Future headline - Hoyer back with the Pats for 2019

Fast forward to Saturday 4:05, some media outlet will make this a headline.

Here's why I'd make book on it. The Lions just traded a 6th round pick to get some no name QB to try and get SOME kind back up for Stafford. Given the historical relationship that exists between the Pats and the Lions, don't you think that if the Pats had ANY inclination to go with just 2 QB's this season, that the Pats would have make that trade and gotten at least a 5th for that pick and wouldn't the Lions jumped at it.

No, for better or worse, they are going with the 3 QB's this season, and even though I'm not sure its the right move, we better get used to it.

I make no predictions, as I suck at it, but Hoyer contributes a heckuva lot that doesn’t show up on a stat sheet, in addition to being a solid backup. If BB lets him go, he really thinks highly of the kid.

It doesn't matter who the QB is, its the fact that the Lions were looking for a QB, and if Hoyer was ever remotely available WOULDN'T a match with the Lions be a great fit.

I was just thinking the same thing.

I can recall this happening more than once before. Not sure who exactly, but I'm thinking Deion Branch, Gerard Warren, Brandon Bolden are a few this occurred with.

Yes.

I will give andy's response, since he has posted it so often.

If the team wants a player, they will sign him. They won't risk losing him to another team to try to save a few weeks salary on a $500K or even a $2M player.

Now, if the player were a highly compensated player, that might make a difference.

The short answer is yes, at least for that year's salary.

In Hoyer's case, though, he had $1.5M of this year's salary guaranteed anyways.
