FA part 2

Collins started 16 games, had 100 tackles and 4 sacks. I think he has a promise from a team that does not want to lose or lessen a draft comp pick. To think he is going to sign for 1mill or so is not in line with his value. I expect him to get one year and 4-6 mill.

From what I heard from Cleveland, Collins was terrible.

What's the cutoff for that again? And wasn't he cut anyways? Shouldn't he be exempt?

Hmm sounds like they were at least open to keeping him on a paycut. I think his teammates have always liked him.

Collins won’t count against a team’s comp picks because he was released rather than having an expiring contract.

Shilique is a high raider pick that didn't work out. In 2018, he played in 13.42% of their defensive reps and in 26.19% of their special team reps.

We lost STers Humber, McClellan and Grigsby from our 2018 team. I would expect that he would compete for a LB/ST roster spot. We lost 3 and Bentley will come back to pick up some of the slack. Adding another seems reasonable.

Is Shilique a LB or ST signing ?

At this point, Calhoun is in competition for the last DE/OLB/ST roster spot. He competes with Davis, Rivers, Harris, Munson, Sam, Kamalu, Cowart and Hall.

I didn't list King who I believe is a lock as one of our key Sters along with Ebner and Slater (62% of the ST reps). I also didn't list Parry who is currently a roster placeholder for the DT's that we are still to sign.

Van Noy 2.0

They haven’t “lost” any of them yet. They all remain unsigned. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the three is signed in the near future, to complete for a special teams spot in 2019.

Calhoun is very interesting. Most likely won't make the team but his athleticism means he could be another Vrabel, Ninkovich or Van Noy type. They were all shoulder shrugs at the time. Likelyhood is small. But there's legitimate upside.

I've learned not to label ANY player brought here as camp fodder/practice dummy.

Just gotta see how they fit in the system, improve and if they make plays.

Interesting note about a very recent Patriot who became a free agent:

The Raiders signed Trent Brown to a four-year, $66 million deal as a free agent after watching him play well at left tackle for the Patriots last season, but they won’t be putting him in the same spot on their offensive line.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said on Friday that the team will play Brown at right tackle during the 2019 season. Oakland will keep 2018 first-round pick Kolton Miller at left tackle after he started there during his rookie season.

What about Tim Tebow?
(ducks out of thread)
I think they wanted to keep him ONLY if he was open to playing other positions. He said no and they amicably parted ways.

Highest paid OL in NFL history and they are playing him at RT.

I can see if the QB was left handed but WTF kind of logic are they using out there to justify that kind of expense?
Maybe they're going to have Carr throw left-handed...open your mind and grind.
