Here the two related articles from Reiss and Gosselin:
Patriots improve from 11th to 6th in annual special-teams rankings
Rick Gosselin's 2016 NFL special teams rankings: See how high Cowboys jumped, which NFC East team's No. 1 in the league | SportsDay

Pats climb from #11 to #6 despite big Cyrus' hiccups and early Ghost's struggles.
They have #1 and #2 ST player (in Slater and Ebner) on AP all-pro team voting.
For most of the season Pats were at the top of the important combined opponent starting point.

2 side notes:
- this doesn't include postseason - so no Lewis TD return etc. included
- #1 is Philadelphia with NE pick KGH part of the group

Its a good read to add some context to future cuts/extensions debates.
Ebner is a monster, JJ and Mingo key parts of this improvement, King core .. and don't sleep on McClellin there..

EDIT: just to add another reference - SBLI ST snap count:
Nate Ebner (28), Shea McClellin (24), Brandon Bolden (23), Barkevious Mingo (23), Brandon King (23), Jonathan Jones (22), Matthew Slater (20), Patrick Chung (18), Devin McCourty (18), Geneo Grissom (17)

quote:

Three of the NFL's Top 11 defenses qualified for the playoffs this past season. Six of the Top 11 offenses qualified for the playoffs. But seven of top 11 special teams qualified, including the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots and division champs Dallas, Kansas City and Seattle.

That's some great insight right there.

I bet we would have been a lot higher if Cyrus didn't fumble so much lol.

That article was from a year ago. There's no way Ghost was the 3rd highest graded kicker in the league last season

According to NFL stats he was #4 in kickoffs...

#14 in FG & WP point kicking.. but the way they grade is very confusing..

NFL Stats: by Player Position

BTW according to the NFL Ryan Allen is #17... in also a very confusing grading system.
