Bill Belichick will coach the Patriots ‘as long as he wants.’ Then what?

As Bill Belichick readies the New England Patriots for their seventh Super Bowl appearance of his tenure, his boss has no problem answering the question of how much longer Belichick will coach the team.

“As long as he wants,” Patriots owner Robert Kraft said this week.

And how much longer will he want?

“We have a pact that we don’t talk about that,” Kraft said. “He knows and I know. But he won’t be done this year.”

This makes me think he's here as long as TB12.

It obviously could be referring to a specific year or age but something about the way that is phrased makes me think it might be tied to TB.

I think BB stays one year after TB12 retires so he can coach and mentor JMD and Matt Pat on building a team around a young QB and then may be take a position in front office.

Scar is on board for another year so it's gotta be at least until then.

He said he doesn't want to coach into his 70's so he won't. That's how long he'll coach until.

BB looks pretty healthy and younger than 63, I think he can coach for another 5 years at least.

By the way I love this scene

He won't leave until he wins one with Jimmy G.

I also hope he takes a front office position when he retires and stays with the organization.

I could imagine him up in the booth watching the new head coach and as soon as the Pats are down two scores Bill comes marching down to the field furious, snatches the headset, and takes over.

He never said that definitively, he said, many years ago, don't expect to see him still coaching in his 70s like Marv Levy. A lot of things can change that general feeling.

Always thought BBs dad looked like Junior Soprano.

Blend into the shadows, along with Ernie Adams..

So you're expecting him to quit after the SB and go coach Chicago or Cleveland?

I wonder if Steve Belichick will be our next coach after BB, plenty of time for him to get ready by then
