Salisbury trade idea for Garoppolo: JG to Texans for JJ Watt AND their #1 pick

So much talk about the Texans trading Watt should give teams pause.

Two years ago he was arguably the league MVP, now he is packaged with a #1 pick to get a young QB.

At least the Pats get a #1 pick out of the deal, but you have to wonder how much longer Watt can play at an elite level with two recent back surgeries, and that doesn't even begin to consider his cap hit.

Arguably, when prime, the best defensive player in football and the highest tier of currency in the NFL for a largely unproven backup who played pretty well on early season games. 1.5 of them to be exact, right?

Is this the new 'Ryan Mallett will get us a first rounder' talk??

Actually, i can see Houston giving us a first rounder, but throwing in Watt is ludicrous

There hasn't been a shred of credible evidence that the Texans are even entertaining the idea of trading Watt. It's just baseless speculation by reporters like Cris Carter and Salisbury throwing **** against the wall and hoping it sticks.

The "trade Watt" rumors have no more merit than the "should Patriots trade Gronkowski?" articles.

I'm starting to think neither Jimmy or Jacoby are gonna be heir to Brady, probably some QB we draft in the next few years

the most visible player ever that doesn't help his defense

no thanks.....he doesn't fit here

It depends. If the Texans think Watt's best days are behind him and he will have trouble staying on the field, getting rid of his cap hit has value in and of itself.

Just like with the Cowboys and Romo, any pick the Cowboys get would be gravy, the real value in trading Romo is in the cap savings.

No thanks. I don't want Watt's ego or contract.

It will all depend if Bill feels that we have a franchise QB in our midst. We won't keep Brady for two years extra, if we think we have a franchise QB for the next ten years who we will let go if he has to sit behind Brady. Anyone thinks Bill will just one day wake up and think we have no Brady, or the option is drafting someone he thinks is ****e in a draft to start because we just need someone, hasn't been paying attention for 17 years.

It will be all in Bill's hands, and I trust him

Don't they already have a lot of dough tied up on Osweiler's deal?

mentioning mallet in garoppolo talk is ignorant

The point was about overvaluing trade capital, not talent...I am sorry I wasn't clear enough for you, maybe you need to be spoon fed more, I will bear it in mind

It is a valid point.....whether Hou would have the guts to send the area into meltdown is another thing. They would REALLY have to think he was finished, as Watt coming here and getting DPOTY will get everyone fired

Great trade in a Madden game, but not so much in the real world. That's not a lot of value for us; not saying it could never happen, but it would go against the grain of how BB has operated here.

Who are you?? It was a jokey comparison...maybe I should have gone LOL or LMAO or whatever internet people say these days to get down to the lowest common denominator
