Phil Perry on Trey Flowers' development

I remember watching Ninkovich when he first came here and noticed how well he set the edge. Likewise Flowers quickness caught my eye early in his first training camp. I'm so glad, like Ninkovich, that he's becoming a key player for the Pats. He's one of those guys who makes big plays all over the field; it's so great to hear how hard he works at it and how humble he stays--the Patriot way.

My friends think I'm crazy thinking Flowers can be in tbe Mack/Von/Watt tier of pass rushers one day.

He's arguably better than Chandler Jones and an upper-tier pass rusher in just his first year starting in the league. Plus he's only 23.

Maybe Gruden was onto something when he called Flowers our best defender.

Most of the NFL and fans are attracted to raw athletic ability and size. We have so many players that don't fall under that category but just know how to do the job. Butler, flowers, Andrews, Brady, edelman, amendola, Hogan, Lewis, cannon, I could go on and on.

The patriot's scouting is truly a notch above the rest. Hats off to them.

I don't read up on guys' weight and height. I had no idea Flowers was 265lbs. Figured he was 285+ the way he plays.

Regards,
Chris

Watch out. Some guy in this forum raked me across the coals for comparing Jones and Flowers because "they play different positions."

I'm dating myself here but when I look at Flowers, I'm seeing Randy White. Undersized but played with incredible power, non-stop motor and technique.

Now he just needs to be mean.

so Flowers has blossomed..

The real question is if he's an annual or perennial.

Either way... he's quite the...

...pistil. Get it? Pistil, like in a flower? Ahahahahahahahhahaha!!!!

...it got a lot of laughs in the botanist forum...

He is so much fun to watch
