We're on to Miami

They are wanting their team to play dirty and take out TB. They know that's their only chance to advance past the 2nd round

Cowards...Have they already forgotten what Jimmy G. did to them in barely 2 quarters of action?

Whoever says Miami is playing impressive football has not watched their games. Out of the 9 games that they won, 6-7 were essentialy coinflip games where everything had to go their way for them to pull the win out.

That includes:

  • a kickoff return TD to steal a win against the Jets,
  • being shutout by the Rams for 56 minutes,
  • barely getting by the Chargers despite 4 INTs by Rivers,
  • being 1 yard away from Kaepernick putting them into OT against the 49ers,
  • Arizona not being able to move the ball in heavy rain that almost immediately subsided when the Dolphins got the ball to win in the last second by a FG
  • and yesterday's close OT win against Buffalo

The point being that if we play close to an average game we have a pretty good shot at winning in Miami. The only way the Dolphins have a shot is if they win the turnover battle by 2-3.. excuse me for not being concerned about that game. The real opponent next week are injuries and not Miami..

Some comments from my side:
There is a lot of important football to be played this week but not too early for a sneak peak.

A few points.

Miami can be run on. They allow 132 rushing yards per game (3rd worst) at an average of 4.8YPA. Expect a lot of runs this game just like todays game.

Miami can stop the pass and rush the passer. Their defenseive QB rating is 7th best at 83.8 and they give up 234 YPG. They do give up TDs pretty often but they get interceptions fairly consistently tend to not let you hit that big play.

Miami's total sack number isn't impressive and middle of the pack but they get more pressures than sacks. This will be a good game to show our OL off and limit that.

The Pats OL just played arguably four of the best D-LInes in a row and surrendered a combined 4 sacks. They will handle this D-Line as well.

Miami has won 9 of its last 10 so is playing some very good football right now and knows how to pull out close wins. Losing Tannehill hasn't hurt them. Maybe even helped.

Go and look at the schedule again. Of those 9 wins they won twice against the Jests, twice against Bufallo, won barley against the Rams, Niners and Chargers, won against Pittsburgh with a one-legged Ben and Arizona is a mess we now that. So not that impressive after all. If the Pats had this cake-walk schedule, there would be reports about: Are the Pats really rhat good?

On offense it starts of course with the run and Ajayi. Stop him and you limit a lot of what they like to do. This run D did okay today and hopefully we see more Malcom Brown next week. For passing it is Landry and Stills and Parker. I worry more about Stills than Landry as he is the big play guy. Don't let him get behind you and pick up huge chunks. Landry is a very good WR but not one of those guys who will beat you by himself IMO. So basically another stop the run and take away the over the top game. That will stop their O pretty well I think. Their O has done pretty well and will be a good test before the playoffs.

They held the Jets to 111 yards on 29 attempts. Thats 3.8 ypc. They were below their average of 3.8 ypc allowed. That was more than OK.

I agree with the rest.

Assuming they clinch playoffs today with Denver loss, I would assume that they'd rest an injured jay ajayi for the playoffs. In that case, we'd probably crush them even if Jimmy G started.

The Pats and the Dolphins have played 13 similar games this season. I say games because they've both played divisional teams twice.

The Pats have outperformed Miami against similar opponents in just about every category except Turnovers (TO) and Offensive Rush Yards. The point differential is incredible.

Below is a comparison of all the Totals of both teams from those 13 games.
