NFL Week 5 Television Coverage: Steelers-Jets, Cowboys-Bengals get Primary Distribution

John Morgan

Out of town New England Patriots fans hoping to see Tom Brady's 2016 debut in week five will have to head out to a local tavern that has the Sunday Ticket. Although TB12's return will be a big story line for sports media this week, the game will be televised

Patriots-Browns game will be broadcast only on the seven CBS stations that always carry the Pats games, six stations in Ohio, and in San Francisco.

Greg Gumbel will do the play-by-play with Trent Green as the analyst.

Late CBS game in New England and almost everywhere else is Cincinnati at Dallas.

Falcons-Broncos is the late game on Fox, broadcast most everywhere.

Early CBS game in most places is Jets at Steelers.

So being 90 mins from SF I won't be getting the game.

Amazon Fire Sticks are awesome. Screw NFL Sunday ticket.

How does it work for NFL games?

I use the sports devil app on it and it has a bunch of different links to all of the games. The stick itself is hacked of course.

Steelers-Jets: What a pu pu platter that game is going to be!

Cowboys-49ers: Not much better...

Hey Bill, You still up near Saxton's River ?

Sling box...I made the trip to CT last weekend and attached it to the TV in my home office. Works perfectly, even with 4G, so if you're at the airport or have wifi on your flight, you're still good to go.
Highly recommend if you or your family have a spare TV/cable box in New England and want Pats games.

Some people complain about the banner ads, but I watch full screen on the desktop app connected to the TV and you don't see any ads.

If my sister has a TV/cable in Mass and I'm in FL how do you do it? Do you need 2 sling boxes? I have no idea (I'm old).

Nope, you just need the one. For around $65, get the M1 (the M2 and 500 or whatever don't really offer you much more for the big jump in price), and have your sister hook it up to her spare TV (if she has one, I'll tell you why below). Then she, or you, can make an account on sling.com, register your slingbox, and download the app for your laptop, tablet, and/or cell phone. Then it's as easy as turning the app on and enjoying Massachusetts programming wherever you are in the world, as long as you have 4G or WiFi. By the way, the instructions come with the slingbox.

It's better to have it on a spare TV, because once you're on slingbox, you're controlling the TV in Massachusetts from wherever you are in Florida. So, the person in Mass is subject to your viewing whim, or vice versa. Unless your sister is going to have the Pats on as well, it's better to have it on a spare cable box, like the one in their bedroom or whatever.

Thanks I'll definitely try it.
