Jacoby “One Snap“ - the tale of true JB nickname

shaq lawson on jacoby brisket:

I hate the "Brisket" name. It's trivializing, and kinda dumb. Besides, if Jacoby is going to be the first black QB to start with the Pats, I think we can show more respect for him.

I noticed that when Bennett entered the locker room after Sunday's win, he first greeted Kraft, and then went directly to JB and you could hear his endearing greeting "JACOBY" No nickname please... just Jacoby or Brissett.

Then you've never had good brisket. It's a borderline religious experience.

That may be, but there's also a history in this country of comparing blacks to animals and animal parts.

Brisket might be an ok name for a big beefy white lineman (although I would hate that too as offensive) but it certainly doesn't fit a black qb in a predominately white city.

You do realize we refer to our QB in exile as...

Are black players entitled to less stupid nicknames? If we re all supposed to be equal then everyone is fair game.

I didn't hear any complaints about Pot Roast.

Probably the best nickname in football. I think the Truth is probably the best in sports. Big Baby probably the most fitting lol...

I'm not feeling the disrespect here -- it's an obvious twist on his name with no negative cultural connotations. And most importantly, it only took off here in the admiring, welcome-aboard posts that followed his strong preseason play. IOW, "Jacoby Brissett" was just some random college prospect. "The Brisket" is ours.

More troubling, after much discussion we STILL don't have any consensus on what to call that Garopoppolollo kid.

Bisquick it is then
Don't like One Snap as he has progressed beyond that in his career

Dude. Come on.

Can my brother and I continue to refer to Troy Brown as Troy "the football God" Brown? Or is there a racially religious overtone to that?

Nevermind. I don't care.

Thanks for wrecking a fun lighthearted thread about a guy who against all odds went into a game receiving 10 % of the practice snaps and delivered in a big way.

Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner! In my mind the search to find a nickname for both of them is the result of our excitement at how great they have done. Jimmy G played great in 1 1/2 games, and then JB came in and played fantastic for a rookie being thrown to the wolves in the middle of a game. Its amazing that the Patriots seem to have three quarterbacks that are either fantastic or very promising, when so many teams can't even get one.

I'm All In on Obi-Wan Jacoby as my man Bisquick's nickname now that he's come under fire!

I'm sorry but this One Snap nickname seems like something out of "American Pie".
