I agree with him. If Bill Belichick wasn't a great coach, he wouldn't be a great coach. Pretty difficult to dispute that.

If Patriots coach Bill Belichick didn’t have four pelts on the wall, he probably wouldn’t still be an NFL head coach.

He’d be a defensive coordinator, most likely. But not a head coach. He simply doesn’t have the temperament to survive as a head coach if he were anything another than one of the best head coaches in NFL history.​

He simply doesn’t have the temperament to survive as a head coach if he were anything another than one of the best head coaches in NFL history.

But he is the best coach in the game - so end of story. Kind of a bizarre stance to take. Any lousy coach would take a lot of heat for dealing with nonsensical questions with such disdain, and that's if they'd be able to say much of anything at all.

Instead, plenty of 20+ hour days of hard work on his own along with surrounding himself with the right people have made him who he is and he's earned the right to act this way. He wasn't born into it, he worked his way from nothing to get to where he is and deserves every ounce of respect he should be given.

And if he wants to shake his head and get annoyed after people try and ask him the same question 5 different ways, he's allowed

No. It's just plain stupid.

It is saying that the best coach in the league would be unfit to be a coach if he wasn't the best. Well the reason he is the best is because he is very well suited to be a coach. If he were not well suited to be a coach he could not be the best coach in the league, possibly in history. DUH.

Belichick had a proven, successful record with the Giants, who, however, were never going to hire him as head coach because...they did not like him. Modell knew he was good or would not have kept him in Cleveland as long as he did. And Bob Kraft, to his credit and our benefit, was going to hire Bill regardless of any stupid, ignorant media member's opinion.

He's the best coach in history taking into account his Giants days as well.

So, according to Florio, Belichick is one of the best head coaches in NFL history, yet at the same time, does not have the temperament to be a head coach (seemingly because he does not play nice and bow down to the whims and fancy of the almighty media... to which Florio belongs). And the only reason he is still a head coach is because of the four championship rings he has won with the Patriots.

I mean, a thousand monkeys at a thousand computers could write for a thousand years and still not come anywhere close to scripting such an illogically-reasoned argument.
