Vanilla gameplan for Manning?

I don't mean a completely obvious defensive scheme, but a few things stand out:

1. This is the first time I recall Manning not having at least three weapons who are elite at their positions (usually he has a star tight end and/or third good receiver.)

2. This is the least threatening Manning has looked when blitzed, due to arm strength, slower footwork, and his overall discomfort in Kubiak's system.

I see this coming down to fundamentals. The Patriots need to tackle, beat their men and shed blockers, set the edge, take good angles, and in the passing game, I think playing a fairly standard man coverage scheme with safety help is the way the Pats could play this one. We saw how Manning used a "trick" by falling down against the Steelers. I think he'll be looking to take advantage of defensive breakdowns and taking advantage when the defense outsmarts itself because he knows 1-2 big plays could win this one, and those aren't likely coming on long downfield throws.

The way the Ravens and Jets beat the Patriots in the playoffs was not by using a complicated scheme but just playing man defense and getting adequate pressure. I think the Pats will let their players beat the Broncos offense and not come out with exotic schemes to try to confuse them. They have the personnel to match up with them favorably.

Um, Emmanuel Sanders, D. Thomas, Owen Daniels are guys who will make plays all over the field. Sanders beat the snot out of the Patriots last time and Thomas made a back breaking catch at the end of the game. Their running game is certainly dangerous as well.

Patriots need to be very careful about playing the run too much, Manning may not have a strong arm, but it is strong enough to get the ball deep down the field and hit an open guy if the defense ends up playing too aggressive.

Not sure about Vanilla D, because the worst thing you can do is play the same thing over and over.
But you have to look at the opponent. He cannot accurately throw the ball downfield. You have to take away the run and you have to cover short and make him hold the ball and throw it down the field. He also isn't accurate short, or when hurried, so blitzing should create Int opportunities. Another thing is that he has to wind up and put everything he has into an intermediate throw. Getting in his face will turn those into off target ducks.

Play up but make sure you don't get over aggressive cause even if you don't need to respect Manning much as far as deep passes go his WRs are legit and can get wide open fast if you bite hard.

The way to beat Manning hasn't changed. It is just easier now than in the past. Flood the center of the field and force him to throw deep and outside. Knock his receivers off their routes because they are timing routes.

I think if there was no secondary on the field but you made Manning throw the ball at least 30 yards beyond the line of scrimmage he would struggle to complete 2 of every 10.

Historically BB has forced manning to run while playing coverage .Dont know what we will do this time. Stacking the box can be risky if they break one , consideering our tackling. I dont profess to know our gameplan vs the chiefs but werent we doing that there as well ? Chiefs still ran on us well enough .If they get any sort of decent run game going with manning doing short passes, we are in trouble.

That sounds good in theory. Dbacks better be careful with the contact. I'll be holding my breath on every pass longer than 10 yards that the dreaded yellow flag doesn't make an appearance.
