Leonard Hankerson Has 3 Weeks to Impress Patriots Staff

Steve Balestrieri

He really has a three-week audition for the Patriots. If he can produce and become a reliable target during the games against the Titans, Dolphins and Jets, then he can work himself into a nice supporting role for the post-season.

I think he has 3 weeks, plus an offseason, training camp and at least 3 preseason games to impress them. He is the same type of acquisition Lewis was last year around this time.

Did Hankerson sign a 2-year deal. If not, he is a free agent after the season.

He is a free agent after this season.
He would be crazy not to test the open market.
Now if he clicks with Brady and he becomes a number 3 or 4 then 3 million a season for 3 years wouldnt be a awful kind of deal.

I would not like to listen to him for three hours. I will bang my head against a wall if he keeps saying "Yeas Sair"

He will not command 3m a year unless he serves as a solid starter for the rest of the year. This is a vet min type of guy, at least at this point in his career.

I'm excited about the kid. He gives the team a type of receiver that they really don't have, he's huge, fast and runs all the routes. It's not easy to find this type of player at this point in the year. It's probably not reasonable to expect him to master the playbook, but with some luck, he may be able to create a role for himself rotating in to attack the middle/deep areas of the field..

He's been in the league now for a few years and hasn't done much at all hence why he was only signed to a 1 year prove it deal obviously we know how that went. I think if he shows some good things like good attitude, team guy, works his tail off in practice and games, doesn't get discouraged easily after a bad play and hangs his head low for the rest of the game then i think he comes back next season at cheaper deal plus to play for the BEST team ever!, and Brady n BB!.. He still has a lot to prove!.. He can test the market all he wants but he hasn't even had one good season since coming to the NFL to warrant the big $!!..

I haven't been on here in a good minute or two .. Good to finally be back chatting with my fellow Pats fans!! . Hope everyone's been well in my absence . Love me some good ol patsfans forums!

We are talking about a guy who's never caught more than 38 balls in a season.

Going to have to disagree with the article. Don't think BB would judge this guy only on 3-weeks. There is a reason why they have all those off season OTA's and training camp.

I think it means for the post season roster

For what it's worth, Brandon LaFell had seasons of 38, 36, 44, and 49 before he came here and lit it up for 74 last season, so Hankerson could potentially earn himself the opportunity to snag some passes if he shows enough. Who knows if that will happen, though?
