Amendola: I try to make as many plays as I can

Im in the minority here, I actually like Danny, just dont think hes worth his salary, but he does seem to come up big when needed

I think DA is very well liked on this board. Plays hard and keeps his mouth shut. Took a haircut to stay here.

His cap number is unreasonable in 2016. That needs some adjusting.

As stated, Danny is very well liked here. ****, even Brady 6 likes him. Second, he makes nothing so I dont undersatnd your post or maybe you have not kept up with the salary stuff.

DA's been great. Last year he came up huge in both Jets game particularly the Home game last year where he did it all and saved the Pats.

If I'm reading it right, per Miguel he's going to be due shy of 7m next year which is what people are referring to. His production doesn't warrant any where near that.

Next year is next year. It seems silly to evaluate his production this year vs. his contract next year. He took a substantial haircut this year, he's proven he's not after every last dollar, and he's been well worth the money we have paid him this season. And he probably won't see that figure next year anyways, so not sure why everyone's even bringing it up.

The blocking is what has always impressed me, and I truly believe that he's one of the better blocking receivers in the game.

IMHO: I like Danny a lot. He fits the Pats system well, has a high motor, runs good routes, and has earned Brady's trust. He is tough though unfortunately not real durable. Good Edleman insurance who plays well when in the game. GREAT playoff run. Performs when it counts most. Glad he's here!

When they gave him this contract no one knew Edelman would become this #1 WR. It's very possible that he would be putting Welker's numbers or close to that if Edelman had left NE.

Here is the thing. Players take "cuts" when the team is offering a restructuring that is in the ballpark of what the player would get on the open market. Based on his regular season and playoff run last year, DA is being paid what he would have by another team if he had told the Pats to go fly a kite.

I think the wonderment of this discussion is because he is on a pace for around 50 catches for 600 yards, how will that impact the negotiations next year as he stands to earn $6.3m next year with a cap # of $6.8/dead of $2.7.

It is a forgone conclusion that the team will be asking him to get closer to the $2.7. The question is will DA accept it or roll the dice.

Bingo. People forget that Amendola was signed here to be Welker's replacement and Edelman ended up being that guy. I'm glad they're both on the roster, though. It's been great to have two guys with that kind of skillset on the offense for Brady because they get open so quickly. All that being said, I fully expect him to be one of the guys (the other being Mayo, if he keeps showing that he hasn't recovered from injury) that the Patriots ask to approach the negotiating table in the offseason.

If Edelman gets a nagging injury and DA steps up to play like he did the other night, game after game...well, that's the only way I could see the Pats paying him what he's due next year.

I think DA can do that - I've always been a fan, and yeah, Sup, he's a tremendous blocker.

I also think he'll certainly restructure again. Hope so, anyway. I'd hate to see him leave. Seems like Josh McD is finding ways to make both him and Edelman more complimentary this year, and I really like the idea of a little less wear and tear of JE.

He's steady, reliable and makes the receiving corp viable...would be too easy to defend Edelman and Gronk if it was just them. The Colts schemed for JE and Gronk, and so DA broke 100 yards receiving. Respect him or you pay for it.

Danny Amendola is liked a whole lot more after he adjusted his contract.. prior to that he incurred the vitriol of just about everyone on this board last year..

I like the guy, the typical blue collar Patriot.. low maintenance, hard worker and does his job.

For me it's the Ravens game that stands out. Not just the JE pass but all game he plays hard. He is not Wes Welkers replacement we have 2 players to take up that role and when they are on the field together teams struggle. 2 quick guys with great hands and play well under pressure.

He was refering to salary and indicated he was one of the few here that liked DA, which if anyone had followed this forum knows its been a complete 180 with DA. So I wont give the poster the benefit of the doubt here.

Most people dont know DAs cap hit, I doubt he did.

Regarding that, I wonder if they can just release him and start from scratch again. It would be nice to have him back for usre since he already has great chemistry with TB and knows the system and has proved he can come up big when it maters most and he is a supurb special teams guy and great locker room guy.

So, do they release and revisit and have him just not sign with anyone else? The cap hits are so huge there is no way to absorb or extend them.

Clutch ****ing hands.

Yeah, pretty much. I can't fault the guy for taking the money he was offered. We overpaid for him, but that's on the Pats, not on him. Since he's been here, he's played injured, made some clutch plays, and done whatever was asked of him by all accounts. Can't ask for much more from a guy, since "be taller" and "be faster" aren't really reasonable requests.
