Was this tackle worth $8,268?

No.

Unless you mean the NFL is allowed to garnish that amount from his weekly pay for the rest of Brandon's life. If that's the case, then yes.

At least he didn't call the ref a bad word when he was flagged. That got Santana Moss fined $22,050 for swearing at a ref when they overturned his TD.

Who celebrates and then taunts after picking up 8 yards on a 2nd and 26 in which you get suplexed to the ground?

"A Dolphin."

That was an incredibly dumb play by Browner. The whistles had been blown long before he decided to suplex Gibson.

Usually these fines are complete ********, but there's at least some hilarity/karmic justice in the fact that Gibson was fined more for the taunt than Browner was for the hit. That's pretty awesome, at least.

Having said that, it was a really dumb play by Browner and he 100% deserved a fine.

But Gibson said naughty things to Browner and got fined $11,000!

The NFL has become a joke!

Given the attitude that he and those hits/tackles add to our defense, I'm perfectly fine with it.

Funny how the NFL can dock an employee ain't it?

I don't want browner to stop hitting, but these silly penalties have to stop. He needs to control his hands and arms on pass coverage too. It's stupid to make yourself a walking magnet for flags.

I think it was well worth it.... The intimidation factor when reviewing that on film was easily worth the 8k. You might catch the ball... But it is going to hurt.

What ever happened to the penalty being the punishment.

The line seems completely arbitrary. A late hit you could claim safety I suppose, but you could claim it for many things. Taunting is harmless though.

There's no reasonable distinction between fining taunting penalties but not pass interference, or intentional grounding. Fining a late hit, but not a pick or illegal contact.

helll yes! It was badass! But he shouldn't have done it!

If you are referring to Sunday's game it was actually RGIII's TD

Not sure why there is shock and indignation over an NFL player being docked(fined). That is a point of agreement with the Players and the NFL. Considering the arbitrary and improper foundation of these fines, the players/union should take up the cause. Otherwise any indignation over NFL players being fined (unlike typical employee of company X) is erroneous.

To the larger question, Browner's penalties. IMHO his attitude is semi needed to combat being steamrolled and bullied like the Patriots were by the Ravens in 2010. Also, I think there are times certain players have to make a 'bold' statement to an opponent trying to bully/intimidate.
Yet there is this one huge consideration: The Patriots will want to play 3 games in a row from a pool of teams that include Indy, Ravens, Pitt, Denver, Seattle, GB, Dallas, Philly. Chances of winning 3 in a row from that pool are the most challenging. a 3 out of 3 win outcome may change on just a play or two. For example: a successfully stopped third down is reversed by a worthless and thoughtless personal foul. What should have been a stop ends up a TD for the opponent.
The Patriots avoiding negative plays, especially ones that had nothing to do with the play, is key to a 3 game winning streak against the best competition the NFL has to offer.

When you develop a rep, you will continue to draw attention to yourself.. that is human nature.

Refs will talk, and watch his play more closely..

"Was this tackle worth $8,268?"

You must've missed the entire 2013 Season and the Super Bowl.

2013 Penalties ~ NFL Ranking

01 ~ Guess which Team led the League and by a wide margin?
02 ~ An hint: Brandon Browner himself played for'm.
03 ~ It would seem that after almost a decade of Bend Over & Break Defense, Coach Bill's remembered that striking Fear into the hearts of your Enemies is worth Investing in a Penalty or three.

the NFL is about the $$ and $$ only
