Good morning everyone, let's get back on topic and we'll get you ready for a New Year's Eve in Patriot land:

D Parker hope I he's not shut down for the season his concussion didn't seem too violent.

Because Mac is immature and panics. He loses his cool. This is a perfect stat to explain what my eyes see. Mac is a Top 10 QB when he is mature and calm (he has a clean pocket). That is why BB starts him over Zappe.

Does the OC suck? Yes. Will the OC matter if Mac can't stop being a baby? I doubt it. We need a new OC AND for Mac to stop losing his mind.
I agree with you on this one 100%. Mac has been very good from a clean pocket. However, at the sign of the slightest pressure (even if that pressure is imagined in his mind) he panics and it all falls apart. Not a good combination for a team with a bad offensive line this year.

If they can significantly improve the OL next year and replace the playcaller will he be successful? Maybe, but do you want to hinge your success on perfect protection?

The Pats offense is going to be really taxed being down to 1 TE. I don't see how they can promote Sokol if they need to promote both Mosely and Hayes..
Going to be a very rough game..

Yes I think you are correct. Will Mac ever stop panicking? I have no idea. I hope so. I think the stupid dirty plays are part of the same immaturity - it is him acting out because he is upset, just like he feels the pocket collapsing on him.

Having said that, I am not sure the OLine needs to be perfect. Mac holds the ball too long. If he could speed up (the game slow down) and release the ball earlier, he would panic less. Mac sees the field, reads the defense, throws some amazing passes, and is very accurate. If Mac could only process everything faster in his mind, I think he would be great. You see pieces of everything needed to be great, if he could only put them together.

Did you see Darnold recently at Carolina? And Geno in Seattle? Darnold is not seeing ghosts anymore, making good decisions, moving well, and throwing great passes. If Darnold can have the game slow down for him, I think the game will slow down for Mac too.

Jonnu Smith and Mac have not clicked for some reason I have given up hope. Sounds like Yodny Cajuste is cleared from the injury report so that's some good news.

You coming around Ross that's my thinking too regarding Mac too many IF's. No QB gets perfect protection in this game... most of them have to make plays. We have seen too little of that from Mac which shows he can't carry a Team by himself.

Agreed in his 2nd year. QBs usually take 3 years or more to mature. Did you look at Darnold's stats over the last 3 or 4 games? Darnold looks good. Geno Smith does too. Derek Carr could not survive McDaniels, Mac did. You might be a bit more patient.

Let's hope we can get past Miami, and then the rookie Jones and Jonnu might be back so we could put up a good fight. Bridgewater is not a bad QB so this game will not be easy. If Armstead is not back, unlikely, the Dolphins OL is very suspect. Hope Judon, Uche and crew can feast.

All QBs get pressured and then defenses appear to be bringing pressure, but dont because they back out and play coverage.

Its the same as defenses playing man to man on one down and then playing zone the next, but disguising it as man to man. Pittsburgh let Jones stand back there like he was back in Alabama. The First half on the Minnesota game saw the Vikings bring little pressure. In the 2nd half, the Vikings kept the heat on Jones and he wilted.

The bottom line is that NFL defense do not respect Mac Jones deep ball. So, they let him have his dinking and dunking between the 20 yard lines which is his comfort one. The Pats offense reaches the Redzone and the NE offense stalls out.

Big part is Mac not being able to fit the ball quickly into tight windows.
In the red zone you need to throw darts.

The red zone is also where good OLine play, sound scheme and play-calling along with a great skill player or two make their biggest impact. All 3 have been noticeable absent from this Patriots team.

Spot on, spacing is integral down in the red zone.

Redone is where your QB should have complete control.

The good ones can handle that responsibility.

The Pats pass rush is ferocious.

Yet Burrow passed for 375 yards, 3 TDs and 18 1st downs.
