'07 Florida shooting being probed....guess who

Wow, this web of destruction is going to have a huge fall out for the NFL and the Gators. Sounds like guys were just shooting people left and right and the victims/witnesses never came forward (mysteriously). No wonder Hernandez was so sloppy with the murder of Lloyd. Someone was always paying someone off to make it go away.

Urban Meyer got out at the right time!

U of Florida guys were shooting people and the Pats were shooting themselves in the foot after drafting them, most of who were either duds (Jackson,Cunningham),head cases (Spikes) and now an accused murderer (Hernandez)

Lets pray that the next batch of players Belichick picked from his new allegiance college,Rutgers are normal and good players.

This is like the episode on The Wire when Wee Bay got caught and took the wrap for other unsolved murders.

That's hard to prove though and they can't really suspend him at Ohio State.

They don't have to. They can issue a "show cause" order which says that a team that hires him has to explain why they shouldn't be saddled with penalties.

It effectively makes someone unemployable by NCAA member schools.

Well, either the unnamed source is lying or the police are lying, one or the other.

While it seems obvious that AH had a lot to do with Odin Lloyd, to connect the dots to this murder in Gainesville, Fla. to him might take a lot of dots...

How many tattoos did he have at 17 years old?? I know he got a lot while in College, but at 17 did he have the time to amass that much skin art?? It happened in his first month of school... Sept.30th...

We should just start reporting crimes that Hernandez is not being investigated for. Would be easier to keep track of this stuff.

OOPS, this one might be an overreach... or even hysteria.

Florida cops: Hernandez not suspect in '07 shooting

Gainesville (Fla.) police conducted a "thorough investigation" into a 2007 shooting and concluded that Aaron Hernandez was not a suspect, Officer Ben Tobias told USA TODAY Sports last week.

"The description of the shooter was a black male. It was not even remotely close to Mr. Hernandez's color or build," Tobias said. "We did a thorough investigation at that point, and it did not lead to him whatsoever."

Gainesville Police refused to release the full incident report. The ESPN report cited a report that contained a statement from a witness that there were two suspects, including a "Hawaiian or Hispanic" man matching Hernandez's build shot a small gun into a car. That witness told police the other man involved was Reggie Nelson, who was a rookie safety with the Jacksonville Jaguars at the time. The witness later rescinded his identification of the alleged shooters, according to the report.

The notorious Ahern the Kid.

On the topic of overreach and hysteria, I am sure some will latch on to the police report from 2007 shooting where the victim identified Hernandez and Reggie Nelson and then later rescinded, pointing specifically to the part where the victim rescinded his ID the same day Hernandez was contacted by police for questioning. In the court of public opinion where message board commenters are the jury and a sports talk radio host is the judge, the fact those two things happened the same day is the equivalent of a smoking gun.

That report also refers to the person who pulled the trigger as man of similar build with tattoos up and down both arms... my question was could have Hernandez added two "sleeves" from when he graduated from high school, until he hit Florida.. this incident occurred on Sept. 30th... Hernandez was 17 at the time.

Then the other small fact that the Gainesville Police, conducted a "thorough" investigation...

Jeffrey Dahmer, Charles Manson, Dracula and Aaron Hernandez. The World-wide Leader has the scent of blood and it's all over now. Good thing they hired Ray Lewis. He can figure it all out. And Bill Polian chimed in and said the Colts took AH off their board for character reasons. Of course, when he was the Panthers' personnel guy, he drafted Rae Carruth, but...

As far as Meyer's job security in Columbus, he just better hope he never gets implicated in any Florida cover up. Ohio State just fired their president for making a bad joke about Notre Dame. In today's climate, no way a coach implicated in criminal cover ups at a former job survives....even at OSU.

Gee's firing (technically, forced resignation) was over quite a bit more than a bad joke about Notre Dame.

It sure was. His comments about ND were mild compared to some other stuff he said. But, why quibble over the truth?

Clarification: not defending the OSU comments. They were ludicrously offensive.
