Update: Curran says Belichick has been on the hot seat since 2019

The 2020 roster didn't have to suck royally, they had ample opportunity to borrow from future years and delay the rebuild while continuing to go all in with Brady. It's defensible they they chose not to go that route but they could have.

Update: Curran says Belichick has been on the hot seat since 2019

25 million a year isn't Lamborghini money for a Quarterback, this makes absolutely zero sense.

Update: Curran says Belichick has been on the hot seat since 2019

Brady was negotiating with Miami after he already made his mind to leave the Patriots. The terms don't scream of someone who wants out, the terms scream of someone who thought he could still be a top 8 QB in the league or so, which 25 million a year guaranteed indicated. Bill wasn't willing to...

Update: Curran says Belichick has been on the hot seat since 2019

Brady was negotiating with Miami in 2019 after being denied an extension in the mold of the one Drew Brees had signed for two off-seasons in a row. When it became clear the Patriots didn't want him, he set his mind on leaving. 3/75 in early 2018 and he stays. 2/50 in early 2019 and he stays. He...

Update: Curran says Belichick has been on the hot seat since 2019

But if they re-sign some of those guys then their financials all of a sudden aren't in such a pristine condition. That's the thing. They have a lot of money to spend in the upcoming seasons because basically no one is making big money into 24/25 as it stands right now and they haven't borrowed...

Update: Curran says Belichick has been on the hot seat since 2019

Name them. Who's under contract of any consequence aside from the players I cited? Who's a lock to be on this team in 2025 that's a piece you're excited to build around? Not even Mac has a contract for 2025.

Update: Curran says Belichick has been on the hot seat since 2019

They are in "fantastic shape financially" because the team has literally zero talent on the books for 2025. No offensive starter sans Cole Strange, only Gonzalez and maybe Jack Jones if he's not in legal trouble on defense. That's it. They have nothing on the books and will likely need a 2021...

    Hopkins Headed to Tennessee

Try about 20. That's an insane take.

    Hopkins Headed to Tennessee

Yes, use it all on a player that would immediately come in as their best receiving option. What's the alternative? Save some for what? They have no money on the books for the foreseeable future, why would they need to roll even more of it forward?

    Hopkins Headed to Tennessee

No money on the books, QB on a rookie deal, still won't spend. Awesome.

    Hopkins Headed to Tennessee

It's only a solid enough group if you don't go look at the pass catchers other teams are fielding. How many NFL teams don't have at least one player better than our best receiver? Are there any?

Patriots Rumor Deandre Hopkins Visiting Patriots Next Week

This is arguably the dumbest statement ever made in the history of this board. Brady's EPA/Play that game was 0.36. On 50 attempts. That's absurd per snap production on that volume. Also, why keep trying to categorize Super Bowl 39 as a bad performance? It wasn't. No one believes it to be. I...

Patriots Rumor Deandre Hopkins Visiting Patriots Next Week

Lol, that's such a nothing statement. Is KC a great TEAM with, say, Mac Jones and Hunter Henry in place of Mahomes and Kelce and the other 51 guys staying the same? Because if the QB and "super weapon" are carrying a huge part of the load into making their squad a "great team", then they are...

Patriots Rumor Deandre Hopkins Visiting Patriots Next Week

Why did you answer that with a completely different argument? Yeah, they had all of those guys in 2007, which led to the best offense in league history at the time, alongside one of the best seasons any team has ever had in the NFL. Who's saying top tier QBs or a superweapon are an absolute...

Patriots Rumor Deandre Hopkins Visiting Patriots Next Week

Brady's weapons in 2006 weren't just "not good enough" they were absolute trash, arguably the worst receiving corps in the league and not only that, guys were sliding in and out of the lineup constantly. They still went 12-4 and were a Troy Brown OPI/Reche Caldwell drop away from reaching a...

OT: Stefon Diggs Not Present in Buffalo

Oh, so he's had a better rate of good performances in the big stage than the guy in your avatar who has been below average in two out of the three Super Bowls he played in. Also Brady played well in the first Eagles Super Bowl.

How Good Does Mac Have To Be To Get His Option Picked Up?

Wow, great argument. But since you love context free "points scored/allowed" metrics, all of the past 6 Super Bowl winners have ranked higher in points per game than they did in points against. The argument remains the same. We're in an offensive era and QBs drive offense. The most certain way...

How Good Does Mac Have To Be To Get His Option Picked Up?

Tom Brady dragged the 31st and 30th ranked defenses in the league by DVOA to minutes away from a Super Bowl title in 2011 and 2017. It's a very simple equation, Wozzy. Offensive EPA/Play has correlated to winning and postseason success more than defensive EPA/Play the last 15 years. Defensive...

Rookie Mapu Already Playing Among the Starters

Ted Hendricks also played at a time in which offensive guards weighed 260 lbs. Mapu is very slight for a traditional linebacker , he's fine if asked to play mainly off ball.

How Good Does Mac Have To Be To Get His Option Picked Up?

We're really measuring defensive performance by points per game? What is this, 2008?
