I suspect that 12 positions are truly up for grabs.

The study the Patriots can do to refute the scientific evidence

I agree that all you need to refute the Wells report is the report itself but I think the response needs to come from someone other than the patriots, tweets, forum posts, youtube videos and befuddled sportwriters.

The study the Patriots can do to refute the scientific evidence

If I were Kraft I would ask the Department Chair of the Engineering Department at MIT (or some other reputable university) to conduct a study on the possible outcomes based on the facts presented in the Wells report. The study would examine the implications for the assumptions made in the Wells...

Rehash...Butler interception was not a bad play call

Passing on that down was the only way to ensure that the Patriots would have to defend both the pass and the run on every down. If they run it there and don't make it, they have to call their last timeout, forcing them to throw on 3rd down. If it reached 4th down the Patriots would likely...

    If you're the Jets...

If I am the Jets, I don't want Revis but I want the Patriots to pay as much as possible for him. This would explain the tampering (however misguided) and leaking going on about Jets vs. Patriots for Revis. Revis is happy to play along because it means a bigger payday for him with the Pats.

    McCourty to stay with Patriots!

Need to see the deal terms first. the contract could be backloaded via roster bonuses that allow the patriots to a) get out of paying the full 47.5m and b) keep the cap hit lower in years 1 to 2 or 3.

Here's an ending you've never seen in the Super Bowl...

Montreal can win if they simply prevent Toronto from getting the ball out of the endzone by scoring a "rouge" for a one point. That's why Toronto kicks it out after the missed FG and why Montreal kicks it back in. They didn't have to recover it in the endzone. Simply tackling a Toronto player...

Let's shed a tear for the real victim of DeflateGate: Greg Doyel

What Doyle is basically saying: "Personal bias is more important than facts and journalistic ethics, and because agrees with that I am justified in saying whatever I want, consequences be damned, fair or not."

The stat that best defines Brady's greatness

"Brady's Patriots are now 4-1 in the playoffs when he passes the ball 50+ times. Every other QB in history has combined to go 3-27 in that situation." Not Montana, or anyone else has ever been able to put a team on his back in the playoffs against top competition like Brady. Usually teams pass...

Will the injuries in the Seahawks secondary be a factor?

It's been stated that the key to the Seahawks defending the short passing game is that they can get up tight, jam receivers, and limit YAC by being aggressive. It's going to be harder to do that if they are playing through pain, which I have no doubt they are. They won't be as effective on a...

    I'm calling it early

The problem is that this Seahawks team hasn't beaten a team with decent quarterback except a gimpy Aaron Rodgers since Denver in Week 3. They haven't beaten a winning team except Gimpy Rodgers Packers and 3rd QB Arizona since that game either. Hard to say just how good they are given that...

Does Tom Jackson look at the legacy of his Denver Broncos differently

because they were fined for exceeding the salary cap and violating the integrity of the game by having a clear competitive advantage in paying their players more?

    DILFER DEFENDS THE PATS

Says Pats are unfairly targeted. What about Seahakws and adderall, and Seahawks having too many full contact practices? Says its not about integrity, it shouldn't be cheating.

Where are you going to watch the game?

    The US Embassy in Singapore.

The Super Bowl Pre-Game and Halftime thread.

The consensus seems to be: 1. Seattle's defense is just too tough 2. Marshawn Lynch will run at will 3. That Patriots secondary is pretty good but it won't matter 4. That Tom Brady guy is pretty good and it's because of him that there is a slim possibility the Patriots win

from all the world this is the moment...GO PATS !!!

Watched Superbowl XXXVI from a small beach bar in Krabi, Thailand. Woke the busboy up at 5:30 am and to turn on the TV.

Jay Glazer says NFL has zeroed in on locker room attendant

I am sure that the Patriots "Culture of Cheating" factor will overwhelm the straightforward "Had to Pee" explanation of what happened in the bathroom over the 90 seconds.

ESPN: 11 of 12 footballs under inflated by 2 pounds of air.

If this doesn't warrant a separate thread, then please merge with an existing one but I thought it might be useful to keep track of what is known. there is a lot of key information missing that would be needed to make a determination, but despite this, punishments are already being proposed...

NFC Championship game, Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks

I wonder if the Packers decided they had a better chance winning or tying the game with a FG if enough time is on the clock.

Which is your favorite time to watch Patriots football?

Since I am in Singapore and 12 or 13 hours ahead of EDT or EST, I prefer the 4:30 or 5:30 times lot as I can get some sleep before waking up early, and the games finish before work starts ononday morning. 1PM EST starts are the worst as they go from 2-5AM here.
