Halfway mark check - how many wins for the Pats in 2024?

I wouldn't bank on the Patriots winning. First, the game is on the road and this team is young and prone to distractions (see: London). Second, we are coming off a statement victory and this team hasn't shown the ability to put together consistency yet. Finally, the Titans just got dominated...

Halfway mark check - how many wins for the Pats in 2024?

5 wins. Home field matters to a younger squad. Combine the young roster with Drake Maye likely not playing this week, and we have a good chance of losing to Tennessee on the road. Chicago is a loss on the road. The Rams are coming to Foxboro and should do well if they are healthy. Miami is on...

    Going All In -- Question

I wanted to make a post about the prospect of going all in this draft -- taking both a generational WR and trading assets to move up for a QB. In terms of value, Marvin Harrison Jr. is almost the easiest pick of all time at #3. And considering #1 and #2 are QB needy teams, MHJ will likely be...

    Next 6 games.

The Texans also have something to play for -- they are a team that is rough around the edges, but gaining momentum and confidence. What do Patriots players have to look forward to? A roster and coaching staff in a tailspin with little chance of getting better. We are in a cycle of decline and...

Dynasty Era Culture & Media schtick the one area I think Belichick firing would win.

Kraft will look terrible if he fires a Hall of Fame coach midseason. If anything, maybe a catastrophe of a season could be an excuse to scale back (or outright remove) Bill's GM duties. Having a new GM could plant the seeds for a new era while also letting Bill chase the all time win record.

Dynasty Era Culture & Media schtick the one area I think Belichick firing would win.

There is a lack of hunger. If getting destroyed isn't motivation, I'm not sure what moves the needle.

    Age or Pride?

Here's hoping he can find a way to tweak things. If they traded for a veteran QB this offseason and focused on the WR position, this team could make a quick jump. If Kraft is going to stick with Bill the next couple years, why not go "all in" on improving the offense?

    Age or Pride?

Fair enough and great point about age accentuating the worst personality traits -- I hadn't thought of things that way.

    Age or Pride?

As the Patriots continue to struggle in the post-Brady era, critics of Bill Belichick have increasingly blamed his age for the team's failings. My question is whether it is fair to simply chalk up these struggles to age. After two decades of unparalleled success, couldn't the main culprit be...

A Frustrating Observation On N'Keal Harry

I don't look at Josh as dumb as much as mediocre. He has moments of brilliance that let him get away with stretches of awful playcalling. He's in a great spot, either way, since it's unlikely he'll get the boot when Mac's development has been so strong.

A Frustrating Observation On N'Keal Harry

I had a feeling the Patriots were going to lose this week when I saw Harry was a go. I get last week was the Jags... but such good vibes with Wilkerson and without Harry. Having him on the field... it just leaves everyone feeling anxious, like something will go wrong... just... because... he's...

Maybe one of the most unclutch defenses of the BB era.

One thing is abundantly clear about this season: this is a 10-7 team through and through. We have had stretches of consistent football that has allowed us to overwhelm weak to mediocre teams. But when we lose that consistency and make a few mistakes, we simply aren't good enough in any area to...

Colts game doesnt look so bad now

Would Jimmy G. or Russell Wilson be the upgrade that puts the Colts over the top? I'm curious if they go all in for a Super Bowl next year with some teams looking to dump their quarterback.

    OT: Week 16 Other Games

At this point, I wonder if we'd even want him as our backup with how inconsistent he's become.

Honest Question: Is the bye a blessing for this squad?

Agreed that a bye is still ideal (even though unlikely). I guess the question is whether it's as important as prior years. Maybe with such a young team it's more important rather than less. I'm not sure and am still figuring out why they seemed so flat last night.

Honest Question: Is the bye a blessing for this squad?

I'd agree it is idle speculation without any context... but even Mac said they had a poor week of practice. Everything around the team postgame seemed to suggest they didn't put in the necessary amount of work and were complacent. That could have happened any week (especially following the major...

Honest Question: Is the bye a blessing for this squad?

The historic success of the Pat dynasty from '01 onward has been synonymous with having a bye. Most of these Patriot teams had a veteran roster who needed time to physically recover compared to the competition. With this year's young(er) team, we saw an uncharacteristic disaster against the...

I hate to say this but I think we were due.

The fact it was a "wake up call" underlines how this is a team ahead of schedule. We weren't supposed to be 9-5 with a rookie quarterback and free agents still figuring out the system and culture. But we got hot and... drank a little of the media koolaid proclaiming us as top 5 beasts. Now...

    Pats vs. Bills Philosophy

That's a good point and you're right I'm selling the Bills short a bit on run defense. It just seemed strange to me this offseason (and especially tonight) the big narrative around the Bills was that they were designing a team to beat the Chiefs with little focus on building a team to win the...

    Pats vs. Bills Philosophy

There is no denying that both New England and Buffalo are top-shelf teams. And it honestly wouldn't surprise me to see Buffalo beat Tampa Bay after feeling pretty salty after tonight's loss. All that being said, I have to question the Bills on overall philosophy. After a taste of success, the...
