I think people are going a little crazy with all the 2nd/3rd round picks. As it is they have 6 in the first 3 rounds. I guarantee you that they will not be making 6 picks. They will either trade up or for a future pick. This draft is deep but the Patriots always look towards the future as well.

Hmm seems interesting that Ayers all of a sudden is starting to get some publicity as the draft approaches (similar to how Mayo shot up at the end). The fact that another Tennessee guy made the transition bodes well. Where are most mocks having Ayers being selected? Will he likely be there...

If anything I think the Patriots use #34 to get a guy who may have slipped out of the first round but with a first round grade. I think their 2nd is the more likely pick to be traded for a first next year. #34 is perfect in terms of compensation given vs talent likely drafting.

Re: Adam Sch. reports : Matt Cassel to Chiefs ! [merged] Finally a voice of reason amongst the cries of "Fleeced!". I think Vrabel thrown in was a nice way to let him get the rest of his contract instead of being cut. It was a pure salary cap move imo.

Re: Gaffney to Broncos I liked Gaffney in 2007, but he cost this team 1-2 games this past year with his drops. Nice player but replaceable. Hell I wouldn't be shocked if you see Sam Aiken (yes Aiken) take on a bigger role in the offense as you saw towards the end of the season.

He was the epitome of a Patriots player during BB's reign here. Hard, tough-nosed player who played through injuries and would take on whatever role the team asked. Sad to see him go, but it is a business and he has been on the downside and I can see his value to KC being more than to the Patriots.
