That said, a footbal player could play again after a knee replacement and rehab. They do great knee and hip replacements these days. Shoulders, not so much

I agree. Nobody is playing football with no cartilage in their knee. Not possible. If it's reached the point where it's bone on bone then a knee replacement is the only treatment. I don't care how much you shoot up that knee before a game, it ain't happening
