Does this mean I have to make another prediction?

You don't have to call anything again until early September. ;)

to hell with perfection .just give me another SB trophy . the giants were not perfect and they looked real happy to me.

I voted no.

I don't want a loss in week 1, or week 2, or... all the way to 19 (the Super Bowl).

I just don't particularly want it. I want a super bowl. A couple of 'em, please. Then maybe some more. 19-0 would be an incredible statement, but we need to stop thinking in those terms. If it comes -- and it probably won't -- well then, it's a nice surprise (and a boatload of pressure.)

I for one will start next year not even thinking "perfect season." My first concern will be putting together a few wins to convince myself nobody has any lasting funk from this season's outcome.

Simply put I want the "pursuit" of perfection but I don't care if the lose a couple of games along the way and they win the SB. They and all teams should always play to win every game.

In all likely hood, we will want to have Home Field Advantage in the playoffs. That means matching wins with the Colts, Chargers, Steelers, etc...

That very well mean an undefeated season.
So you have to root for every win.

I think what will reduce the pressure is a more solid active defense, and not worrying about records. Down the stretch, there was a concerted effort to achieve records... and that just ADDS another layer of pressure.

Just win games, get the players out in the 3rd if you have a 28 point lead, and get them ready for the Playoffs.

The Key would be to get the spygate chip, hate teh NFL gonna storm the league attitude off the shoulder, and just play solid ball, win every game you compete in, and get ready for next week.

Come next year, we will see the true make up of the leaders on this team. 3 straight gut wrenching playoff losses, might not have it in them to put their heart out on the field anymore for perfoamnces liek the Colts win in 03, the Rams in 01, etc...

Oh and Morris, if he can stay healthy, will be exactly what we need come playoff time.

No. Not right now, I don't.

Put this poll back up in September and I might reconsider.

no. I hope we lose opening day. The pursuit to perfection lost the Superbowl for us.

I just can't answer this. I remember Jimmy Johnson talking about the Hurricanes team that lost to Penn State after the game before I tuned out. After this, the Pats might have the fortitude to do it again and finish next time.

But I'd take an 11-5 season, a wild card and a championship with no scrutiny over the miserable feeling I still have about the end of this season.

Perfection baby, too many positives compared to negatives

Not particularly but i wouldn't throw it out of bed.

This is a no brainer. The more games you win the better your position in the playoffs with the bye week and ability to rest players(if needed). Yes its a lot of pressure but they've already been there and should be able to handle it a lot better.

I might feel differently after some time to grieve this loss, but right now I say no.

Well said. Of course I'd like them to win every game, but this season kind of wore me out. The hype and endless press coverage. I can only imagine how the players felt. They say they take it one game at a time, but who really knows.
I know this: leading up to Super Sunday, I found my self thinking a lot about perfection, and less about the super Bowl itself.

Just win the super bowl.

I dunno if I can take another year of this buildup. And that's me, imagine how much pressure it is on the player's shoulders week after week.

I voted yes. Emotionally, it would pretty much erase 2007, though that's not why I chose it by a long shot. Really, what it comes down to is mentality. I think that the Pats are the best, in large part, becausethey play every game to win, and they know that they can and should win every time they play. And really, I'm not sure that 19-0 was what brought them down. Isn't it possible that they just played a rough game at a really, really inopportune time?

I root for the Patriots to win every game. So yes, I would love another crack at 19-0.

Next season, I am boycotting ESPN. Not for any ethical reason, or because I think it'll change anything or anyone will even notice or care; I just don't see any point in forcing myself to read that crap. I'll bookmark Simmons' page, and that will be that.
