Minus the demons Josh Gordon could have been Great...he had all the tools to succeed. Really hope he's in a better place mentally.
We never got the Cleveland Josh Gordon because of his Alcohol addiction he was in a team managed treatment and Curfew regimen when he was here. Guy was so talented..

That story about Nink’s approach is great. I remember he stood out to me when I attended the preseason game in DC that year, so much that I took note of his number and researched him afterward. Two plays in particular his nonstop motor stood out. One was running sideline to sideline, the other was chasing a play downfield thirty yards or more. He’s one of the reasons I don’t discount UDFAs or fringe players still looking for a home. There are so many talented athletes looking for their opportunity, what matters most is what they do with it. Nink is a great example of past results not being a reliable indicator of future performance. I think Reiss listed some good candidates for the next such story.

People need to remember that Ninkovich was the 135th overall pick of the 2006 draft; so except for Muma, nobody else on that list has the pedigree that Ninko had... In fact the only one other than Muma whom I want to see make the 53 is Gregory, mainly because he's the only NT we have in the building. The other four should consider themselves fortunate if they are asked to sign with the PS.

Nink was a fifth round pick in 2006 by the Saints.
Made the Saints roster in 2006, went on season ending IR (MCL) in September.
Waived by the Saints in the final 2007 cutdowns after knee injury in July practice.
Claimed off waivers by the Dolphins, mostly inactive during 2007 season.
Waived by the Dolphins during 2008 cutdowns, then signed to the practice squad, later promoted to active roster, waived and re-signed to practice squad.
Signed by the Saints from the Dolphins PS late in 2008 season, then released during offseason.
Signed by the Patriots as FA during 2009 training camp.

That’s the kind of pedigree that gets dismissed as consigned to eternal JAG mediocrity on this board.

Agreed, regardless of draft status getting cut and re-signed seems to be the kiss of death here... even for a guy like Muma who is roughly the same age Ninkovich was when he arrived and who ended up playing 8 productive seasons here.

Value vets and reclamation projects happen every year in the NFL, especially with very athletic players who stick around and work hard.

He looks baked...

Nink was a solid player out of Purdue at LB &and had to make the roster as a long snapper and tore his ACL I believe his rookie season. He's the ultimate example of how a player can grow if given an opportunity.
