This was an interesting blueprint and discussion. If you're not aware, you should check it out.
It's interesting enough to become a thread here... so do the Patriots have the "Core 12" that fit this criteria to be championship caliber?
1 QB
3 Offensive Playmakers
3 Quality Offensive Lineman
2 Pass Rushers
3 Back-7 Playmakers

1 QB - Maye
3 Offensive Playmakers - Brown, Henderson, (Boutte & KW may qualify?)
3 Quality Offensive Lineman - AVT, Onwenu, Moses (Campbell is on verge)
2 Pass Rushers - None qualify (Jones & Landry are capable, Ponder & Jacas could develop, but not solid)
3 Back-7 Playmakers - Byard, Gonzo, Spillane (Jones & Davis could apply too)

It obviously boils down to what criteria you use to define playmaker.

QB- check
3 O playmakers - Brown, then do 2 of Doubs, Henry, Henderson (explosives) count? Boutte would probably qualify as a downfield receiver based on last year's performance. I think Pop and KW have the potential to qualify.

3 Oline- AVT(*injury risk?), Onweno, one or two of WC, JW (rookies) MM (age)

2 Pass rushers- Williams, Barmore interior (I'm going to assume the intent is for Edge to be in the mix)? Not sure we have an answer here.

3 back 7 playmakers - Gonzo, Byard, one of Jones, Davis, Woodson. The overall quality of our starting CBs and Safeties should qualify.

Would be nice to provide a pointer along with advice to check it out.

Just looking at the list I’m meh, not enough there to motivate me to check it out. Implication without explanation suggests something about 7 Offensive and 5 Defensive playmakers is a key to something. That imbalance alone is enough to leave me skeptical.

Maye
AJB, Booty, Henderson
Moses, Onemenu, AVT*
MWilliams, DMJones
Gonzo, Marcus Jones, Byard

The first & fifth categories could be as good as anyone's... The second & third have potential to be competitive but need work...
The fourth category needs at least one more Play-Maker from Outside the building; because what we currently have Inside the building simply isn't good enough to hit the QB without blitzing.

Don't trust the blueprint. I don't think these 5 bullet pointed criteria are the secret sauce.

I don't think you need 3 quality offensive linemen, you need 5 quality starters and at least one or two quality backups.

And just two pass rushers... what about just as important run stops? Playmakers on the edge and in the backfield can't do anything if the front doesn't force opponents into passing downs by stuffing the run.

I think the Patriots, health provided and assuming quality development by the youth, will have one of the most talented 53 man rosters in the NFL. We'll have a better idea by the end of preseason where they rank in relation to their peers.

Much as I like Jeremiah saying that the foundation to a championship is a good offense and a good defense is hardly earth shaking news.

Not sure how/why you would list Spillane as a PLAYMAKER. 100% not. He is maybe a big brain & COACH-COORDINATOR on the field. Never seen him blow aenything up. Solid, not a maker. But Davis qualifies as a playmaker so the check is ok.

Not sure why pass rushers is restricted to DE/Edge, where is Milton?

At end of day, I think this paradigm is ok, but has to be supplemented with another factor: THE WEAKEST D LINK (or s-2).
BB always coached O and built his D based on your D is only as good as your weakest link. If he could gameplay to attack that weak link, he would exploit it and win.

So I think you have to ask WHO WOULD YOU ATTACK on our D if you were Josh Allen, Mahomes, or Stafford for ex. Then where does that weak area stack up to league average. If your weakest two Defenders are in the 10-18 range for their position, you are maybe ok. Does that make any sense???

I would first test the soft underbelly of our run defense; I still can't believe this front orifice hasn't yet replaced Tonga's skill set...

I would then exploit our LBs in coverage with quick passes after the blitzing starts because we couldn't produce pressure with just 4...

This looks very Madden/Fantasy Football to me.

"Playmakers." Every snap is a play. We have guys like Boutte and Williams with ridiculous TD-to-snap ratios. Okay, that and five bucks will buy you a latte. Then we have guys who will catch everything thrown to/near them with an iron grip (especially thinking Hollins) with crappy "playmaking" capabilities. But in non-fantasy football, sustaining drives is easily as important as the quick-strike capability. Is that "playmaking"?

This is a purely definitional exercise and one particularly devoid of predictive power, as you can play the definitional game backwards to fit the curve.

Whoever invented this DUMB "foundation," you have just wasted my time between spring OTAs and actual training camp, which I previously thought to be impossible, given the boredom quotient of this time period.

I'm so bored I'm going to do work I SHOULD do because it's less tedious than this stupidity.

Nobody's fault. We're in the doldrums.
