2027 Watch List

I won't have binkies until we get some actual football, but these are the guys that have intrigued me early and I think offer some significant value, that currently sit outside the top 50 on the big board I use. NFL Mock Draft Database.

RB

Mark Fletcher, Miami
Jadan Baugh, Florida (although seen by many as a potential first rounder)

WR

Wyatt Young, Oklahoma State
Nyziah Hunter, Nebraska

TE

Peter Clarke, Temple

OL

PJ Williams, SMU

EDGE

Will Heldt, Clemson
Boubacar Traore, ND
Clev Lubin, Louisville
Jordan Ross, LSU

LB

Ray Coney, Texas A&M
Tony Rojas, Penn State
Sammy Omosigho, UCLA
Ben Roberts, Texas Tech
John Curry, Texas Tech
Caleb Woodson, Alabama

CB

Chris Peal, Syracuse
Brice Pollock, Texas Tech
Elijah Green, Tulsa
Jontez Williams, USC

S

Dawshawn Spears, LSU
Jelani Mcdonald, Texas
Tao Johnson, UCLA

Obviously this is far from a definitive or complete list, these are just some prospects that have jumped out at me early or are holdovers from last year.

he might not declare but no reason to sleep on the next Iowa TE machine

maybe eyeing the 2028 TE1 spot - then again that class might be stronger

Elijah Green, CB, Tulsa
6-2, 195

Coverage grade - 80.8
Run defense - 72.2
Missed tackle % - 11.4%

Of returning CBs, Green led CFB in interceptions with 5 and trailed only Kelley Jones in PBUs with 8. In terms of passes defensed, Green had 5 INTs, 8 PBUs, Leonard Moore had 5 INTs and 7 PBUs.

Now Green is a true junior so if he has another good year may look for an NiL deal to a bigger school rather than declare but he's certainlt a name to bear in mind.

He's definitely one to keep an eye on. I got excited about him when I researched him until I saw his run blocking grade - a downright awful 38. That's something he's going to need to work on.

Its Iowa so i wouldnt worry too much ; )

“Probably the most surprising thing to me (about DJ Vonnahme) is his ability to block, willingness and ability to block,” Ferentz said. “He just does some things that are really are very impressive for a guy who had never played the position.”

Played everything in HS incl QB and safety (sic!)..

Obviously this is far from a definitive or complete list, these are just some prospects that have jumped out at me early or are holdovers from last year.

Early potential binkies:

TE Jamari Johnson, Peter Clarke
WR Charlie Becker
OL Jacarrius Peak, PJ Williams, Austin Siereveld, Carter Smith, Kade Pieper
IDL Will Echoles, Mateen Ibirogba
EDGE Yonzhae Pierre, Boubacar Traore
LB Kyngstonn Viliamu-asa, Ben Roberts, Arion Carter
S Jelani McDonald, Ty Benefield, Zach Lutmer
CB Kelley Jones, Zyaire Hill

Don't count out Sammy Brown for LB 1. I just heard on a mock draft video that he ran 4.41 this off-season and that's without combine training. He's 235lbs for reference.

Yes, that has been reported.

Tuioti will be intriguing watch.
Can he play DE in NFL? Can he thrive as Crosby light/short? Or have more of Van Noy rout as swiss army knife O/LB?
Combine will prob not be his game so might be a steal for someone later on..
